These researches wanted to find "evidence" of racism so they created a study designed to give them what they wanted. Most young children are not given spicy food at an early age so it's natural many wouldn't take to it immediately...racism! Most young children are used to a fairly similar diet day in and day out; give them something drastically different and it's no surprise that many wouldn't want it...racism!

Had the researchers wanted, the could have turned the study around and "proved" that children "naturally" like food from their own cultures.

When it comes to subjects like "racism", there is VERY little objective research going on; nearly all of it is agenda driven and extremely biased.

Don't you think that's a bit hasty, John, if all we've got to go on is a Daily Telegraph article published during the silly season? For balance, here's the NCB's response to the article. It's difficult to form a judgement without seeing the actual offending part of the book, however as like most newspapers the Telegraph habitually hypes up stories to sell more papers, I wouldn't be surprised if the book has been misrepresented.

From what I've read on the subject I don't think so. Perhaps even a vast majority of research done today is specifically designed to give the desired outcome or set up so the results can be manipulated to say whatever it is they want to make it say.

This is true whether we are talking about race, politics, supplements, toothpase, global warming, etc.

Trace the funding, trace who it is that sponsored and/or initiated the "research" and most often it's someone with a vested interest in the outcome and they are NOT seeking objective results.

I had a university professor who looked into a number of these in the early 90s and the same thing was going on then. A few years ago someone wrote an article or book (can recall which) detailing the phoney "research" being passed off as true research by various groups, people and the media. In some cases, those who put forth the "results" had to go to extreme yoga-like twistings in order to put forth the desired "results" because so much of what they found, even though they were biased in their methods, pointed in the opposite direction.

We live in a very dishonest world where scrupples are for sale to the highest bidder and scientists, doctors and other "respected" folks in "respectable" careers are deeply involved. They are not immune to sin and can and do delve into greed and lust.

And every newspaper has a bias...i.e. in favour of sales.

I do agree with you John that this happens, but I don't every research group, charity and organisation in the world is guilty of it.

I agree that not all are this way but it seems the majority are. They are in the BUSINESS of research. They do "research" for the sake of getting rich, not for the sake of discovering truth.

There are still some who do objective research but they are not the ones folks with agendas to support seek out to do their research.

With regards to newspapers, some still consider sales, but today (at least in America) they are so driven by their liberal bias that they sacrifice sales in order to push their liberal bias and agendas. Partly because of this more and more newspapers in America are going out of business.

I don't like things made with tinned soups, particularly mushroom. Does that make me anti American?

One of the largest deceivers in advertising are those who sell health supplements.

Seems most people who has a vested interest of making money from something that they will deceive people in order to sell their product.

That's a fact Jerry. Some of these supplement companies actually own the companies they hire to do their research! Another fact is that in many cases, one company will make a supplement, place it in different bottles with different labels, and then several companies are selling their "unique" supplement which is exactly the same as the "unique" supplement other companies are selling. A very big scam.
