We've had a couple of nice spring like days, now it turned into rain, seems the temp is dipping a bit.

Was hoping it would hold off, I've got a funeral tomorrow at 2:00.

Thankfully we had a pretty day, for I had a funeral service. I was sure hoping for the sake of this family it would not be raining. But at the cemetery the wind was blowing quite fast. I thought at any moment it was going to rip that little canvas top up and send it on its way.

It did blow some flowers clear across the cemetery into a pasture.

Sorry to hear about that. Funerals and weather often don't mix in the optimal way. I pray God comforts the family.

My former pastor (he is home with the Lord) told us of a funeral he did for someone whom he had never met in life. The family cremated him and wanted him spread across the ocean from a boat. So, consequently, the service was on the boat. Windy day. When they emptied the urn, well, the wind blew the remains all over the people in the boat attending the service. People weren't sure if they should brush them off or what. AWKWARD! Of course, he told this tale with such humor and panache, neither of which I possess. I still smile a little when I think about it. So, I guess you can just praise God it was a burial and not a cremation.

This man was a lost man, I figure he went straight to hell. His brother was a deacon of our church and I did his service back in 2002, he was totally opposite of him. They came from a large family, it seems not quite half of them are church going people, and the other half never wants nothing to do with church.

When asked if I would do the service by one of his sisters I had to say yes, or felt I did. For it seem she finally may have come around in the last 2 years while going through cancer. Yet still more than half of the family is infidels and want nothing to do with God.

It took some deep prayer and thoughts to come up with something to say and or how to say it. Doing a funeral service for lost people is one of the hardest things I have ever done.

No ma'am, I don't. This is the first avatar change I've done in a while, actually. But that's about to change.
God bless,
Joel.

The heavy rain combined with the melting snow has revealed several water main breaks in our 100+ year old water/sewer system. Basements filling up with water and "other stuff." Who said small-town politics ain't exciting?!?
