I know nothing about the movies you mentioned and rightly care not to know anything about them. Although a local SBC pastor, I saw him on our local TV station, he recommended everyone in his church, children included, to go see Saving Private Ryan. He said the wife and i went to see it last night and it was just wonderful.

But, are you saying you enjoy watching people sin?

Watching people sin, does that bring glory to God?

Do you really believe that God condones you setting and watching sin and enjoying it?

How can watching sin be enjoyable to a person who has really been born again?

I dont enjoy watching people sin, but I do enjoy those movies. But of course, you people dont agree with those movies and thusly you'll say i like watching sin.

Yes. Yes I can. I've enjoyed movies like "Saving Private Ryan' date='" "Cars," "Shrek 1-3," all 4 and soon 5th "Harry Potter" movies.[/quote']

No wonder you have a problem with our standards on these boards - you don't have very godly ones yourself! Your endorsement of occultic and vulgar movies, and extremely violent video games and movies, show a distinct lack of discernment.

Correct me if I'm wrong, Saving Private Ryan has a whole bunch of cussing in it, which is a sin, but you enjoy it, but you claim to be a child of God's. I feel sure that Jesus would be offend by what you find pleasurable.

Speaking about standards, seems you've got the standards of a very worldly lost person that has never met Jesus Christ.

Why is it your not Christ like? I just can't imagine Christ setting and watching R rate movies and enjoying Himself when He speaks out against all sin.

X19,

Are you at all aware that by your very own testimony you have all of the earmarks of one who is either far and away backslidden or completely unregenerate???

***You take pleasure in ungodly movies,

***You enjoy fitlhy, unclean music that dishonors the LORD,

***You have a severe aversion to old-fashioned hymns. You told us that they would make you suicidal if you had to listen to them for six months.

I think Mr. SamoX19 is one of those "Sensitive Seekers" that everyone is bending over backwards to get into their churches. In his defense, he probably has never even heard the true gospel of Jesus Christ, and very doubtful if he even owns a Bible. Why should he own a Bible when his pastor just shines everything you need to know about God on a projection screen? So how can he know what is sinful or not, if he has never been told the truth?

Good posts PE and Janet!!!

Sadly, there are many churches and pastors today which fail to preach and teach the WHOLE Word of God. There are those who proclaim you can be a good, clean Christian while wallowing in the muck and mire of the world.

If you may recall, a few years ago when the (then) latest Harry Potter book was coming out, many churches embraced the Harry Potter series. Even several churches which had previously condemned Harry Potter for its glorification of sorcery began to put forth efforts to "find Christian aspects in Harry Potter". I remember reading about a church in PA, I believe, which designed an entire study on how Harry Potter promotes Christian values!

The same could be said with regards to rock music. Look back to the churches of the 50s and 60s and even 70s which took solid stands against rock music but today embrace the same music form calling it "Christian" and playing it over their church speakers and from their very podiums.

Look back at the dress styles once preached against by most all churches. Now look today and see how many folks actually attend church in very short skirts, form fitting tank tops (on both men and women), shorts and cut off jeans in church, overly revealing outfits on women, men dressed as if they were going to a backyard BBQ, etc.

Much of "the church" is embracing what they once rightly preached against. Too many churches today have fallen away from true biblical standards and they want to be in the world and of the world but they want to think they are okay with God too.

How can anyone live on a constant diet of Cotton Candy? The Seeker Sensitive Worship Center I went to was so weak and watered down there is no way one could survive as a Christian in that environment. As for hearing the true Gospel of Jesus Christ, most people who attend such places are not interested in hearing the truth, they are only interested in being entertained for an hour or so.

you are quite correct in what you are saying. I have been to many churches like that where the worship was just music but no worship and the sermon had no focus to it. It is true of many churches that as you say "candyfloss" churches.

However I have been in churches where the worship was just music and there was no worship, and they were playing an organ. and the pastor went on for 2 hours to explain to his congregation (average age- 78) that god is good. I was the only visitor and the others had been going to church all their life. It was a baptist church, to say now that all baptist churches a dreay, lifeless and have no great teaching in them would be wrong.

so you see ALL denominations on the face of the earth have their off churches, apon which you cannot base your predjudice. So you see you can make several examples of churches who have even admitted they play "the devils music" and I would steer clear of them. but not all of them are like that alot of them bring a new life to worship, Travel the world and you will see that music is cultural and just like that time also has its culture and thus music will change. People in africa use drums and do alot of dance, in their churches they do that to and they have great times of worship. Stop taking the narrow view and closing these things off because you are trying to be conservative. but instead take a clean and fresh look at these churches. I have worshiped god while someone has played the drums and another a electric guitar. I was so close to god in those moments. It is the same with samo so you see calling it the devils music and expecting it to go down well is a bit naive
