In 1875, Henry Ward Beecher was sued for adultery in a trial that lasted 6 months and ended in the jury deliberating for 6 days and being split, so a mistrial was declared...no-one really knows if he was guilty.

:lol True. But he proclaimed his innocence in the same double speak way the politicians use today. Even though only one of his sisters openly believed him, there was at least one who kind of believed but wouldn't vocalize it, and at least one brother who knew it was possible. Seems Henry was quite the man who liked his pleasures.
