Here are a few articles that may be of help:

The NASV is based on the NU (which stands for Nestle-Aland and United Bible Society) Text (not sure what edition) - some info on that Text and the editors of it:

For a little less biased (and a lot more factual) over view check the Lockman foundation's site. Then buy one and read the intro... My NASB Study Bible has a ton of good info in the beginning.

A little less biased?... Maybe less biased toward the TR, but certainly more biased toward the Critical Text! Of course, they are not going to present what is wrong with their modern version because they want you to buy their "more accurate, better, easier to understand, and more politically-correct" version.

Not to mention the fact that the NASV is one of the hardest to understand modern versions out there! After reading and studying the NASV for four years, when my sister and I started reading the King James Bible, we actually found it easier to understand. Go figure...

Hey, Tex, I've got a daughter down there already, and my son will resume classes in January (If you see someone driving a yellow VW Thing, that's him but the car's mine!)

Well, the problem is, he isn't going to be able to find the reason WHY they did the translation, which is one of the things he needs. The NASB might not be a good version but I'm sure the translators didn't do it out of pure spite. I think he is going to have to read a pro-NASB website to get the real details behind it. A well-rounded report would present both sides, including its history in an unbiased manner. Using only WoL is not going to do it for him, I'm afraid. :wink

One thing I like about Cloud's research (even if someone doesn't agree with all of it) is that it gives you names, dates, books, etc. to do further research on - ie. as a springboard. Plus, he has an article handy on the issue, so I can find it easily (nothing worse than spending wasted hours online searching for something).

For example, now we know what the underlying text is and who worked on that text - plus, some of what they believe and what they have written.

Another help would be an article that compares passages between versions. I can show you various contradictions within the NASV itself (contradictions the KJV does not have). I believe the Bible does not contradict itself - if there is a version that does, there is a problem with that specific version.
