  1. 1. Caffeine

    • I don't use it, because it's a drug.

    • Caffeine can be abused but in moderation it's ok.

    • I think churches that serve coffee are hypocrites.

Did you see that California lawmakers are doing a study to see if they should classify caffeine as a toxin and place warning lables on certain drinks containing caffeine?

Oddly enough, even though coffee and tea both have more caffeine than the average soda, warning lables wouldn't apply to them because their caffeine comes naturally.

All of this even though scientific evidence shows no danger from moderate caffeine usage.

"California". That says it all right there. They want to label caffeine as a "toxin"--weren't these the ones who want pot to be legal, and have those places for I.V. drug users to go in and be supervised by nurses?

California is the state where a lady died from water poisoning this year in an attempt to win a Nintendo Wii from a radio station contest. She drank 3 gallons of water without relieving herself and died shortly thereafter. If they are going to put toxin labels on food and drink with caffiene in it, they should do the same for water (and every other food, for that matter :cooldude: ). ALL chemicals become toxic when an OD occurs. That is why another guiding Biblical principle when it comes to what we take into our bodies is the principle of moderation.

This is true. Did you know apple seeds are poisonous? How many "uncaring" parents put a whole apple into their child's lunch--oh, and what about all of those pesticides??? We need to have some common sense, and we sure don't need the gov't to have their nose in every facet of our lives. Excuse me while I take a another drink of my coffee! (It isn't illegal, yet is it?) :coffee

That way the driver can sneak up on all those caffeine scarfers!!

Will you still bust me if I'm drinking decaf.--or will you need to send it out to the lab for analysis, to see what, if any, detectable levels of caffeine there are--and whether they're within the "legal limits"??

Actually all seeds contain cyanide, but it is actually beneficial to you and even in large quantaties it is not poisonous. The cyanide in seeds is encapsulated in a 5 strand protien/sugar and is only released in the body when the sugar breaks down the cell walls of cancer cells. The cyanide is then released and kills the cancer cell and the dead cell is flushed out with the rest of the bodies waste. Cancer runs in my family and I use apricot seeds as a form of preventitive medicine along with other vitamin and mineral supplements. I have seen what most would consider to be unbelievable cancer recoveries from homeopathic therapy. In Genesis God gave the fruit of every seed bearing tree to us for meat, I sure he knew what he was doing and wasn't trying to poison us. You should check out the book "A World Without Cancer" it a very informative read.

I have no doubt that a few apple seeds would not kill you.......I guess I thought it was obvious that I was being silly. However, I will say that apple seeds (in large quantities) are listed as poisonous in elementary science books, as are many other parts of different edible plants.

How many years back was it that they found out caffeine and nicotine was in coffee and tobacco?

That both of these could or might be harmful to ones health?

I wonder what the best Baptist Church members from the 1700's would think of such a conversations of people talking about such things being bad for us and or a sin?

What is amazing to me is that here in modern America the heathen in this world puts down smoking, but think any kind of sexual actives is just fine, that its even good to give birth control products to 11 year olds, teach them about all types of sexual activities including homosexuals and teach them there is nothing wrong with any male or female having sex with one another, or any male or male and or female and female having sex together, and its OK to have sex even if your not married and any one who disapproves of it is a bigot.

Plus look at their view of alcohol, they think its just grand. Its fine for them to show someone drinking on TV and most any kind of sexual activities with most everything showing but don't let them show a person smoking for that will totally ruin all children in this world.

The other day I was talking to a couple of friends, one of which in recent months quit smoking and started going to church. Oh I might add the church is wife attends, Assembly of God, will not accept anyone who smokes. Any way he took off after the other friend standing there with us when he lighted up a cigarette, condemning him for smoking and how he ought to change his ways and start going to church like he is. I guarantee you every word when thru that mans ear and right out the other one and the next time he sees him he will make sure to avoid him and the type lectures he gives out.

There are many big battles out there, should we be about them and not condemning one another over drinking coffee, using tobacco, drinking coke, or caffeine loaded drinks. I still wonder what some of our Baptist ancestors from yesterday year would think about us and our conversations on this.
