Members LindaR Posted February 7, 2008 Members Posted February 7, 2008 On Monday night, I had a monster headache...thought it was a migraine. We called the paramedics...when they took my b/p, it was 180/100...when we arrived at the ER, my b/p shot up to 214/132, which is stroke material. I had been on b/p meds for almost 5 years and suddenly stopped because my Dr. ignored 3 faxes from the pharmacy. Therefore, I had been w/o blood pressure meds for almost 6 weeks. They gave me 2 Clonidine tabs (probably a very high dose) in order to get my b/p down far enough to allow them to give me a CAT scan .. to be sure I didn't have a stroke. I checked out okay..no stroke. They also gave me a shot of morphine/phenergan for pain. The next day when I went to the Dr. (not the same one who ignored the faxes from the pharmacy), my b/p was 105/60--which was quite a drop. I actually felt like I was intoxicated. My blood pressure isn't stabilizing as fast as I thought it would. The dyiastolic rate is still in the 60s (the second number)...the systolic rate is somewhere between 95-112 today. Please pray for my b/p to stabalize. I am now back on my original b/p meds. Quote

Members LindaR Posted February 7, 2008 Author Members Posted February 7, 2008 :pray Praying for you sister' date=' and for you to get a doctor who cares about his patients![/quote'] This doctor who I had been seeing was located 40 miles away...therefore quite a trip (wear and tear on my van and the money used for gas) for a 7 minute visit. He kept ignoring the faxes from the pharmacy to update my scripts...so I gave up trying. I'm having my medical records transferred here to Cleveland to another doctor...who appears to be a bit more concerned about his patients. My b/p about 20 min ago was 132/77, which is about normal for me. Thanks for the prayers guys! Quote
Members John81 Posted February 7, 2008 Members Posted February 7, 2008 Praise God for caring for you through this. I do pray you will be well and safe now. Quote
Members Danny Carlton Posted February 8, 2008 Members Posted February 8, 2008 I could feel my bp going up this week as I had several clients all wanting their work done immediately. Then I cut down my caffeine consumption to just one mug of coffee in the morning, and it almost disappeared. How much caffeine do you drink on a daily basis? Maybe that may be one problem. Praying. Then I cut down my caffeine consumption to just one mug of coffee in the morning, and it almost disappeared. How much caffeine do you drink on a daily basis? Maybe that may be one problem. Praying. I drink about 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day--some days I drink none. My husband usually drinks the rest of the pot---he's a big coffee drinker, I'm not. One time I was told that caffeine would stunt my growth...lol! I'm 4'11"! My husband also has low blood pressure (110/65 is average for him). Heart problems and high blood pressure runs in my family too. I was taking b/p meds for 5 years then for the reasons I stated above, I stopped for a period of 6 weeks (my fault partly)---that is when my problems started. Praise God, I'm stable now--but still feel pretty weak. Thank you for the prayers, Bro Danny! Quote
