Due to our busy schedules, my wife for the last year has been buying ready to make meal kits and also purchasing meat through Butcher Box.  It seems the ones that get delivered the most frequent is Butcher Box and Green Chef. We make a monthly trip to Costco for all the other stuff, but the meals are good and we don't always make it like the instructions say, but gives us inspiration. ?

Does anyone else do this?

We don't, but, we've considered doing it. We have had to spend on the average of $125-145 per week on groceries. We have a high state sales tax since we have no state income tax. It adds anywhere from 8-11 0/0 to the grocery bill. Would it be worth it for just two people?

It possibly would be worth it. I know for the meat, my wife waits until a really good deal and then we bulk up and spend around $500 and freeze it. Usually that lasts us 5 or so months. As far as the meals go, it may be worth it for two people, some sites like Everyplate usually have some good deals.

I'll check them out. I've been looking at ButcherBox. My wife hasn't looked at either yet. Would be nice to save some money.

No thanks on the meal kits. I guess, or know that I am old fashioned, but I like my own cooking and am not willing to change for expediency sake.

I hear you. The ones have received so far is where the organic ingredients for different meals that you pick out is sent to you, and you do all the cooking and putting it together. It's the same stuff I would have picked up at the grocery store.

Now you'll need that extra deep freezer lol

We got an upright 21sq ft... just a couple of months ago. A lot of room for nearly everything. ?

We tried Hello Fresh some years ago (our oldest gave us a subscription) and I wasn't impressed. The meals were just okay and could be a little lacking in quantity. We didn't see the value for the extra money being spent on the convenience.

We have had extra freezers for decades now and regularly buy a pig and/or beefer to keep us in protein for good periods of time. We save a lot of money on food this way. I believe the last beefer we bought came in a $2.75/lb. for everything. You can't even by ground beef for that now.

I've thought about it. But hubs eats so many vegetables (and I do mean A LOT), that they'd never keep up with us. lol  As to beef, we bought a half from neighbors...good beef, forsure!

My wife has looked into these and we've discussed them. We have decided against it in light of our varied eating habits. It just wouldn't be feasible for us.
