  1. 1. Which best describes your position on the KJV/KJVO/TR issue?

    • 1. I believe the King James Version is a faithful translation while also believing that there are other translations out there, including foreign language translations and Critical Text translations that are equally faithful. For instance, the NASB is a faithful translation to the texts it was translated from. The textual issue is as a non-issue. I use the KJV because I believe it to be the best translation although I don't have a problem studying from other versions to gain differing or a deeper perspective.

    • 2. I believe that the Received Text is the accurate text and any Bible faithfully translated from it is God's preserved Word. I am not opposed to a new English (or any other language) translation from the TR as long as it is faithful and accurate.

    • 3. I believe that the KJV is the only pure translation for English speakers and that nothing will ever replace the KJV in English no matter how archaic the 1611 English becomes.

    • 4. I believe that the KJV is the only pure translation for English speakers. While accepting translations in other languages, I would still believe that the KJV is superior to all the rest.

    • 5. I believe that the King James Version is the only true Bible in the world, that it - itself - was given by verbal inspiration of God in 1611, and that all nations should learn 1611 English in order to have the one, pure Bible.

I voted.... I not KJVO at all.

To me the biggest issue with having any ideal of a faithful representation of the scriptures must begin with dealing with preservation issues. One may say that God has preserved His Word through out all generations in the form of what we now call the Holy Bible...

but there are many problems with that statement. In all honesty one must deal with the failure of man in preserving the texts of the scriptures and stop blaming God with the flaws we now see in the collection of writings we call a bible.

You can not use the word bible and the Word of God interchangably. Now the bible certainly contains the Word of God but it certainly is not all of it based on what canon you choose.. nor is what survived flawless.

Now the Word of God is flawless.

Show me where God promised to preserve all His Word in the form of the Protestant canon of the Bible many call the KJV?

After you demanded all of those scriptures on the other thread, now the truth comes out - you do not even believe in the scriptures! :verymad:

I never said one word about not believing the scriptures. I BELIEVE THEM ALL. Don't change what I said.

Even the Jehovah Witness bible?

Nope. Never said that. I think the new world version is wrong in many areas. Probabily the same ones that you have trouble accepting. I believe Jesus Christ was/is "THE" one and only Son of God. Not a son of many.

God promised He would preserve His Word.

Either the Bible we read from is truly the Word of God or it's not. If not, then who is to decide what is and isn't the Word of God? We have already seen the mess such thinking has led to with some professing Christians claiming the portions of the Bible they see as "anti-homosexual" are not God's Word; some claiming where Scripture declares only men are to be pastors as not being the Word of God; some claiming the account of creation isn't really the Word of God; some declaring whole books of the Bible are not the Word of God.

Heres my :2cents. I do believe that the KJVO is the most acturate bible there is although I have used other translations most of which were gifts to me or inhertited for cross referencing. You can read anything, but believing it is something else. Just last night I recieved my late grandfathers KJV Heritage Edition published by Collins World. Complete with box. Very nice edtion. The commentaries in the back look very interesting too.

Where did God promised to preserve His Word in the form of the bible? I have never read it. The only verses that comes close are

Psa 12:5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
Psa 12:6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Psa 12:7 Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

The problem is that verse 7 reflects on verse 5 and not verse 6. This is very clear in comparing scripture with scripture.

For example we read in...
Mat 26:11 For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.

Which is confirmation that Verse 7 reflects verse 5.

For another example we have a promise in prophecy saying

Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

We see there will come a day when the scriptures given to teach man will not longer be mentioned or spoken about. For the Lord Himself will be among us and all shall know Him. This shows there will come a day when the scriptures will no longer be spoke or taught in direct contradiction of making verse 7 correspond to verse 6...

There is no need to take an all or nothing approah when it comes such things. We can deal with them case by case. If a homosexual starts saying the scriptures given do not belong in the bible its simple to ask why you believe it? Have you studied texial crticism? ....the canons.... or are you a student of the ancient texts???

Their position quickly falls apart.....
