Members Pastor Scott Markle
The forum Bible study on 2 & 3 John has now officially begun. To begin let us consider the following questions: 1. What are the primary themes of subject matter in 2 John? 2. In what verses of 2 John do we find each of these primary themes presented? 3. What are the primary themes of subject matter in 3 John? 4. In what verses of 3 John do we find each of these primary themes presented? (Note: I myself DO have thoughts in answer to the above questions; but I shall wait for other contributions before I present them, so that I myself do not simply dominate everything.) Members Musician4God1611
Though I agree with NN, I would say it is specifically this: II John - "Walking in truth" (II John 1:6) I make this distinction because he makes it clear that some walk in truth and some do not, some have true doctrine and some do not, then he commands her that she should walk in it. III John - "Faithful to the Truth" (III John 1:5) They were faithful in charity and love. They were faithful to walk in truth. Diotrephes, however was only faithful to himself. In contrast, Demitrius was faithful to the truth and had good report of all men. Pastor Scott Markle, No Nicolaitans and Rosie
Members Alan
"Walking in truth," reminds me of the admonition of the LORD in 1 Kings 6:12, " ... and keep all my commandments to walk in them..." Members Pastor Scott Markle
Good contributions all. My own contribution to the first set of study questions would be as follows: Primary Themes in 2 John 1. Walking in the truth -- 2 John 1:1-4, 6 2. Walking in godly love -- 2 John 1:1-3, 5-6 3. Separating from falsehood -- 2 John 1:7-11 Primary Themes in 3 John 1. Walking in the truth -- 3 John 1:1-4, 12 2. Charity toward traveling ministers -- 3 John 1:5-8, 12 3. The evil of loving to have the preeminence -- 3 John 1:9-11 ____________________________________________________________ If there are any others that wish to contribute an answer to the first set of study questions, please feel free to do so. Yet let us begin to consider another set of study questions, as follows: 1. With the primary themes in mind, what would you give as a general (broad) outline for the epistle of 2 John? 2. With the primary themes in mind, what would you give as a general (broad) outline for the epistle of 3 John? (Note: Just verse divisions are sufficient; however, if you also have division titles, they would be worth presenting.) TheSword

Members Ronda
Just wanted to let you know I did read (as I committed to), and I have done an outline/conclusion for both books. I decided not to post, but to participate this way instead, and observe. Just wanted to let you know... I'm not ignoring the study, and I think many others are reading/observing as well. God bless you in your desire to serve others. Rosie and Pastor Scott Markle
