The Federal courts have already ruled that "In God We Trust" is nothing more than a generic statement with no real meaning and referring to no particular "god". That's the reason the rabid "separation of church and state" crowd has been unable to have the saying removed.

It is rather ironic that an non-Christian president first had that phrase put on money and when they make a special edition of the penny bearing his image they leave this phrase out.

It has real meaning to the Christians living in ths country...and when something bad happens it's a reminder to people.

True, some Christians might think about this, but the offical position of the government is that it's a generic statement with no real or specific religious meaning.

Even among most professing Christians, they don't think about what's on their money, they just spend it.

I don't like the idea of the phrase being removed but we live in a society that either outright denies God or they proclaim God but deny Him by their actions and false beliefs.

I looked at those pennies. Nice drawings. But are those for both sides of the coin? Could it be that the drawings are for the reverse of the coin, but the head of Lincoln (with in God we trust intact) will remain? There was no real explanation as to what the pennies would completely look like.

As for me - I know that this nation doesn't trust in God. In fact, many Christians don't, really. But I would like to see that saying remain - regardless of the reason for it being added and regardless of whether or not we are a Christian nation.

I believe the "In God We Trust" is on the reverse of the coin....which is now going to have a new design.

Funny though they were thinking about doing away with pennies altogether..and now they are redesigning them. haha.

This is in preparation for the upcoming Lincoln anniversary and all the propaganda they plan to spew at us for a year or so.
