Christians That Are Paid Serve Christ Better....

Our church has a Board of Physical Properties and most of the men on that board have specific skills in areas such as carpentry, electricity, etc. These are the men who take care of most of the physical property needs, along with other volunteers when needed.

If something comes up that needs attention in an area that none of us are skilled in, such as when our elevator needed repaired, we hire outside help. However, for most things volunteers within the church tend to things.

I'm currently helping our pastor edit and move years of sermons.

We did this too. We hired the Amish to do the cement for our floor. The entire time they were fed by our ladies and they got a solid gospel message every day. The price was reasonable, and their work was great.

That is awesome, 282!  What a blessing to read that the Amish got the gospel message from your church.  Gotta love the Amish!

I used to belong to a church; in which, every year they would put certain jOBs up for bid among the church members...such as church cleaning, grass cutting, etc...

Whoever gave the lowest bid, got the jOB for the year.

When they finally stopped doing that, no one volunteered to do the jOBs...so they had to start paying church members to do it again, but the jOBs weren't put up for bid any more...

Then...after a while...people started griping because no one else ever got the chance to get paid...I mean...help.

I assume that is why you "used to belong" there.

No...that particular situation was just one of those things that makes you wonder how in the world can Christians behave like that...but nothing surprises me any more.

We left that church for other reasons. Over time, we tired of the power struggles, the un-Christlike attitudes, the unconcern for following God's word, the finger-pointing, the lack of...well, I've said more than enough. We hung in there...hoping and praying that things would change; however, it became apparent that the course was set...so we quietly left.

Well, my kids are right now cleaning up and setting up for our morning service.

And they do not get paid for it.

This brings something else to mind ''Tax Deductions'' I've know some that have given to the church all year and at tax time they begin to fuss if the church is slow at getting out to them how much they've given that year. I just cant figure why give to the church an at tax time deduct it on your taxes what I give belongs to God which he blesses me with to give and it makes no sense to me to ask for part of it back.

Most of these fussy people are the ones that never do anything for free for the church and grumble about not getting payed enough for what little they do.

What's even worse than that brother, is I've known people who lied about how much they gave (saying they gave more than they actually did) so that they could get a bigger tax reduction.  Apparently, an individual can claim up to a certain amount of charitable giving without proof...or so I've been told. I've never checked to see if it was true...but I do know people who have done this.
