How sad for those parents! A lot of judges just aren't dispensing true justice anymore. I don't like to see more child abuse laws being written' date=' though.[/quote']

I know what you mean, HC. If they write more laws, the liberals will just go on a witch-hunt for people who spank their children. The law right in the article states that the judge could have given the lady 20yrs. in prison the way it was. The problem is their judges..........not the law. The parents are fighting the wrong cause. She should go on a campaign to educate the people about judges and turn the heat up on a few of them!

American "justice" is not based upon absolutes. Notice the vast difference between criminal law put forth in Scripture and what America has today. Scripture is clear that those found guilty of crime X receive punishment Z immediately.

In American law today there are various categories for what amounts to the same crime as well as a variety of possible punishments and in many instances the whim of the judge is a factor as well as that of prosecutors.

We don't need more laws, that's for sure! What we need is fewer laws that are specific and enforced.

It seems to me that to much power is put in the hand of the judges. The sentencing ought to be left up to the jury as long as its done legally.

I can't even imagine what it would be like to be a parent and go thru such a thing.
