This verse from Psalm 46 is one of my favorites:

"Be still, and know that I am God".

For the believer it is healthy and wholesome to contemplate quietly the greatness and sovereignty of our majestic and gracious God.

City dwellers I think face a special challenge to be able to get away from the constant bustle and rush, and spend time in prayer with their Bibles and remember and contemplate the greatness of God, and His holiness, the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.

It's one of my favorite texts, anyway.

Blessings.

Mrs. Wesley had 19 children and she had her quiet time with God by pulling her apron over her head and drawing close to Him. She had taught her children to know that when her apron was over her head, she was communing with God and not to be disbturbed.

No matter where we are, we can find a way to "be still" and know God.

Amen. In this hectic day we live in, it's often very difficult to be still....This text is a good reminder.

Like our pastor often says, we have to MAKE the time, not wait for a time to come about. I'm glad he reminds us of that often.
