How about neither one? Is everyone afraid to say it?

ear piercing is the worlds fad along with tattoo's etc. Is it wise to follow the world or the Lord?
(Unless your a Midianite or a prate!, why bother doing it?)

I:

Plenty of preachers' wives have had it done, anyway.

(Just wondered.)

You know, Farouk, not that I'm necessarily against ear-piercing, but just because a preacher or his wife or a lot of them do something - it doesn't make it right. Our 'permissions' should come from God's Word. ;)

(Ezekiel 16:12 KJV) - "And I put a jewel on thy forehead, and earrings in thine ears, and a beautiful crown upon thine head."

God put "earrings" in Israel's "ears."

I honestly don't know which one is preferable. I am not afraid to say, although some might think I am a heathen for it, that I have my ears pierced. When I got them pierced, the lady was new at it and training. She did it with the gun, and it didn't really hurt much except she let the gun dangle there from my ear ring! Everyone else I know has gotten their ears pierced with a gun. The only one I know that used a needle was in highschool, and that was because her friend gave her another piercing in the girls locker room at the school.

My ears are pierced, but sorry if I assumed the OP was speaking of additional piercings, if the tool is an issue. Most regular ear piercings at the mall or whatever are done via gun...often a needle is used if odd places are being pierced.

What is "odd" today? While women having one piercing per ear was common a few decades ago and more or other piercings were "odd", that's not the case today.

It's actually rare today that I see a woman under 40, sometimes even 50, who doesn't have multiple ear piercings. Belly button piercings are very common, perhaps even the norm now. Unfortunately, I've even seen more than a few older, overweight women theirs pierced and exposed as they shopped at Wal-Mart. Nose piercings are fairly common, and vey common in some areas from what I'm told by others. Lip piercings aren't even considered odd anymore among many. Other piercings we won't discuss are also now rather common, even for men.

Already many of these are accepted as normal in the church.

I don't think there is a solid answer for that....however, "modest" means not drawing attention to oneself. So the more piercings you have, and the stranger places they are, the more you are drawing attention to your body. It also has to do with worldliness.

I personally think double pierced ears are okay if tastefully done...much more than that is just overkill and immodest. However my husband prefers only one piercing and its not a big deal, there's really no reason TO do more than one piercing other than drawing further attention to oneself so its not like I'm dying to get it done, I just think there's not a whole lot wrong with two. I think you can be immodest by wearing just one, horribly huge gaudy earring, rather than two dainty, small earrings.

I think other bodily piercings are immodest and worldly...there is no reason to pierce other body parts other than to be worldly or to draw attention to various body parts.

For the same reason, my husband is against ankle bracelets and toe rings because it brings undue attention to a body part that may be considered sexy to some men.

Aren't all earrings to draw attention? Otherwise, why wear them? Drawing attention to the ear, which many men find sexy, also draws attention to the face, hair and neck.

Myself, I find belly button rings to be gross and wish all the women with them didn't feel the need to have them exposed everywhere they go.

Eyebrow, nose and lip piercings are just creepy!

Earrings are an accessory. They compliment the outift a person wears. Someone usually doesn't notice a persons earrings right away. I have had many people compliment my outfit, but say nothing about the earrings I was wearing. The only time I hear something about my earrings is if another girl likes them and wants to know where I got them at.

Okay thanks for the input guys.

I guess guns are fine, then.

Kitagrl: Well, exactly. It's really a matter of personal preference and taste but I guess you're in good company, plenty of godly women get it done. Edited by farouk

The Lord bless you a 1000 times more as much as you have in your life now.
