For the next two weeks, I'm afraid eating will be high on the agenda. In the office where I work, there is a Department Thanksgiving breakfast tomorrow, and a company-wide Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday. Then there is a small Thanksgiving get-together with my Bible study group this weekend, as well as a church-wide Thanksgiving fellowship dinner Sunday. I will be spending Thanksgiving with a lovely family in the country (the mother and father, a grandmother and grandfather, and 10 children, plus I believe they are inviting two or three other unmarried people who have nowhere to go on Thanksgiving. It should be a chaotic affair!!!!)

Some of the dear godly men in my congregation are actually taking part of their Thanksgiving weekend and doing some much-needed repair work and touch-up work (touching up paint, repairing some pews that look a bit worse for wear, etc.) around the church, so we ladies decided to surprise them with a nice hearty breakfast and lunch on the Friday and Saturday after Thanksgiving when they are planning to be at the church working. We spent much of this past weekend scheming how we will get there and get the food ready without their knowing what we were up to.

I am taking Monday after Thanksgiving weekend as a vacation day, so I'm hoping to get some sewing done. I think after all the eating and fellowshipping that I anticipate during the next two weeks, it will be a blessing to have a quiet Monday to spend recuperating in my sewing room!

The holidays tend to be such a lonely time, so I'm actually looking forward to all the activities. Staying busy really helps this time of year.

So, what is everyone else going to be doing?

Hosting a missionary from Austria, huge Missionary/Church thanksgiving meal and then going to Christmas markets that Saturday. Always a lot of fun.

With the exception of last year, we always get together with a large number of friends. We are the hosts, but our house is tooooo tiny, so in the past we have met at the smaller library in our library system. This year, however, we are not able to do that, due to staff abusing the privilege of using our meeting rooms for family gatherings. Soooo....

We are meeting at a friend's house. We are still hosting, but she has welcomed us to meet there. I'm so thankful, because we truly love to have a large gathering. At this point, there are about 30 - that could change Thursday morning, if there are still college students who don't have a place to go.

Our church has had a Thanksgiving breakfast from almost the get-go 40 years ago. The men fix and serve the breakfast, and then they clean up afterward. It's always good food, and it's nice to be waited on, on a day when the ladies are so busy in their own kitchens.

After the breakfast, we have a time of testimonies. It's a great way to start the day. Then it's off to our separate gatherings.

After we eat, we always spend hours playing games. Board games, group games, etc. And there are snack all through the day. We spend time talking about what we are thankful for, and it's just a wonderful day. The museum is open the next day, but I'm taking a personal day because I have to work on Sat. afternoon.

It's going to be quite a feat to pull it all together, since I'm in WA and won't be home until after midnight the Saturday before....Looking forward to it greatly. :clapping:

Oh, I can see that you'll just be bored mindless! I'm glad your kids get to make it in. My hubby would love your 11/27 football bash. He's not an alum, but he is a buckeye through and through - as is my son. Enjoy the next couple of weeks!
