I wanted to start a topic on good reads to learn how that one might talk with a Muslim about receiving Christ.

I like the book "Unveiling Islam" by The Caner Brothers

There are plenty of negative books about Islam, but in a Gospel situation we need to be sympathetic. Moslems are needy people who have been stereotyped by the media (& of course terrorism.) There are many thousands of Muslims & several mosques in the town where I live, but I can't claim successful evangelism. Friendship is the first step on a long road.

A very useful book showing Muslim thinking is by Brother Andrew.

Just a thought to ponder.

I've heard some very smart Baptist pastors say this about winning souls, do not debate the Bible in any manner with a lost soul, just try to get them saved by presenting the path to Christ to them.

That while trying to present the Gospel to many lost souls, many of them will try and get them side tracked into a debate over the Bible, and if they turn it into a debate, and they cannot get back to presenting the Gospel where hopefully they will get saved, they will not debate the Bible with that lost person. They usually back up their thoughts with this verse.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

Well actually, I just need to let you know that most Muslims are taught not to be your friend so Friendship evangelism is not going to work prOBably. I read these books so I can know about their religion so I can know how they think. If I know what they think and believe about God then I will know what scriptures to use in presenting the Gospel.

When you know where a person has been it is easier to get them where they need to go.

Our preacher today was from Friends International, an organization which encourages Christians to befriend some of the thousands of students who come to Englamd each year.

He is based in Oxford and was telling how they have a lunch for Muslims. They have a number of them coming including one from Saudi Arabia.

Friends International, says many of the students coming to this country are from states where it is almost impossible to reach them so we have an ideal opportunity to reach them through friendship at a time when they arrive in this country without knowing anybody.

Many of these students who come to Oxford or Cambridge will return to be leaders of their country.

We have another Friends International, speaker on Wednesday evening, Mr Andrew Muwowo from Zambia.

Today on Janet Parshall show on KWXI AM 670 she had a person talking with about discussing the Bible with Muslims, Ron Rhodes, wrote a book named, "Reasoning from the Scriptures with Muslims," from about 5 to 10 minutes I got to listen to is, it sounded pretty good.

I know nothing about this man, being as this topic was on this subject I thought I would mention it.

You can listen to that show here.

Sorry for bumping an old topic but no use starting a new one when there is one.

As a former muslim... you do need to talk about Quran and Mohammad to a muslim... Muslims are taught from day one that christians are liars... they changed the bible and made a human (Jesus) into a God (major sin in islam... like a one way ticket to hell).

I became a muslim in 2000. I knew about Jesus when I became a muslim.. but didn't understand. To leave Islam... someone had to show me where Islam didn't make sense and where the Quran and Mohammad contradicted itself.

Bringing a muslim out of islam is very hard... In some cases you are asking a person to put their life on the line... the punishment for leaving islam is death. While you don't hear too many cases of people in USA being killed for leaving Islam... it happens. I think more often then we know.

There are several links that give testimonies from muslims who became christians and show good examples of stuff you need to show a muslim. Anyone who wants the links can pm me and I will give them there.

Quick tip... A man should never ever approach a female muslim... If at all possible send a sister to talk to her. Contact between men and women who are not related or married is strictly forbidden in Islam and quite often they will not take the time to listen and may even seem rude.

I am also more then willing to answer any questions that anyone might have concerning their beliefs (I am more familiar with sunni islam then shia or sufi but depending on the question I might be able to help).

God Bless

Excellent post worthy of bumping this thread :thumb:

What you state mirrors my interactions with Muslims in university.

I guess Samer doesn't come around too much anymore, but I think his family used to be Muslim. He would have good tips for you, Kayla.

I agree, Muslims will not want to befriend a Christian, unless they are not a very dedicated Muslim. You would prOBably have to talk to them on and off in a work/casual situation, and be somewhat to the point as the poster above mentioned...pointing out inconsistencies and lies, in a loving kind way.

A muslim will befriend a christian if they think they have the chance to convert you... But you can use that to your advantage... While they are trying to teach you Islam... start planting the seed in them about Jesus... Start planting the seed in them to doubt their own belief. Learn where their Quran and hadith are inconsistant and question them on those particular issues... not the usual Allah says to kill all christians stuff (which by the way is not what the Quran really teaches... ) but where the real issues are. The Quran names the trinity of the christians as consisting of God, Jesus, and Mary.. not the Holy Spirit... if Muhammad was getting messages from God then why would that mistake have been made? What we call the trinity has always been the same and doesn't include Mary in it.

Muslims work very hard to convert christians because they believe they are rewarded in the heavens for doing so.
