The Pursuit of God by A. W. Tozer Have you ever read Tozer? If Tozer truley lived what he writes in this book, then he was a modern day David, I don't know, God knows, I know he is inspiring. I've wanted to read this book for more than 30 years. I should have read it long before now. I began reading the book on line but had to have a copy in my hand. I read slowly on line until the copy I ordered arrived. First of all don't look for his Baptist credentials, he has none. In his book, The Pursuit of God, I found a man pouring out his desire to seek God "in spirit and in truth" more so than I ever have. For that matter, I've yet to meet anyone independen…

Our son turned 7 today. Look at the neat snack my wife made for his birthday party at his school... The "hamburger" is a yellow cupcake (the buns), a brownie (the hamburger patty), and the "ketchup, mustard, and lettuce" are icings...and those are actual sesame seeds on top of the "hamburger". The "french fries" are sugar cookies. Each child in his class got one of these trays. I pity the teacher after all of those kids get loaded up on all of that sugar!

So as not to split the discussion in the other thread...... I have asked of many different people, in many different places, and read many books searching for a particular piece of information, yet without success. I wonder if our new friend can supply the answer for me. And let me assure that I am absolutely sincere in this request. Do you have any information, preferably from the man himself about his salvation testimony? I have studied many notable Christians of the past, and one thing I like to include in my notes is a salvation testimony. I have never been able to find Calvin's salvation testimony. If you could point me to a source …

We don't have a lot of options for radio stations here in the Appalachia foothills. I keep my truck tuned to the local BBN station...the only other NON-options are K-love and recently a Catholic station. Are there some internet radio stations worth listening to?

Tonight at the library, I noticed a movie called, The Time Changer. It appears to be produced by TBN. Does anyone know if this movie is any good or not? If TBN is an acronym for Trinity Broadcasting Network, I am more leery. Thanks.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask a question about History but I have an enquiry. I like to spend time reading History, not only British, but also European and N. American, and over the last few years have read quite a lot about the US Civil War. However, I note that some commentators refer to it as "The war between the States" and appear to get irritated by it being called the Civil War; can anyone help me with this? If you are travelling through the US are there any areas where you would get in trouble for calling the conflict the Civil War?

I know the answer to this. But I still wonder. God let man fall and sin to enter the world so He could show how gracious He is. That He is mighty to save. But I still wonder and question why God would let us do stupid things and make mistakes. How I wish that my flesh isn't corrupted and that all my choices in life are good ones. How I long to that day when we don't "get" to sin anymore or make bad choices. I would appreciate any inputs from you all. :)

Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. I was recently given this book to read and since I want to understand Islam much better than I do, I have started the book and thought I would ask if anyone has read it? I have read one chapter and have no opinion on the book at all. It is written by Nabeel Qureshi and the internet contains both good and bad reports on the man so I am simply wondering if I am wasting my time. If you have read it your thoughts would be appreciated, and if no one has I will certainly post my thoughts when I am finished.

Revelation 4:11 11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. Love God and love one another. Jesus said, John 13:34-35 34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to ano…

Do you have any quotes from Christians which have encouraged or you found extremely uplifting for your Christian walk? I found the reference to McCheyne from reading Tozer's The Pursuit of God. While searching for 'McCheyne' I found The Biography of Robert Murray M'Cheyne (McCheyne) written by Andrew A. Bonar. Here's is the quotation of McCheyne found in the aforementioned biography... "It is a remarkable feeling to be quite alone in a desert place; it gives similar feelings to fasting; it brings God near." I thought it might be rewarding to hear from others with Christian quotations which have stirred their heart or spirit. Tozer himself is full of great q…

Hello to all, Alan and I had a short discussion on British Major General Orde Wingate and his accomplishments during WWII. In that same frame of thought I decided to ask who you might consider the as being a great leader or general in the last 1000 years and why you believe them to be great. Wingate died at age 41 yet left an indelible mark on every country and continent he touched, including Israel, Ethiopia, Italy, Great Britain, America and Burma. I hope many will participate in this discussion, it should be fun

Hello all, I recently finished the book, The Leadership Secrets of Colin Powell, written by Oren Harari. I found the book fascinating and helpful, it is not a Christian book, consequently many of the ideas need to be filtered through God's word. None-the-less the people centric process of Colin Powell's leadership style and his driven nature to allow people the opportunity to make decisions within the framework of an organization are in my opinion long been lacking by many pastors and local church leaders. If you are looking for a book that will challenge your leadership style and give your mind food for thought I believe it is well worth the read. I would g…

Don't want to derail that thread so..... I sure am glad that I don't live in a place where I would feel it a necessity to concealed carry at all times. I am glad I don't live in a place where I would feel it necessary to have a loaded weapon by my bedside or next to my front door. Whether or not YOU think I should anyway, I don't feel any need to be armed in my society - and I am glad of it. Please note thst I am not saying anyone is wrong to have or feel like they have to have a weapon for protection. I am saying I am glad that I don't live in a place where I would feel it a necessity. Praise the Lord for that about where I l…

I want to write a blog post about asking others for help instead of stubbornly relying upon one's self or giving up entirely when confronted with a problem. I am trying to think of biblical support for this subject, but I'm drawing a blank, for some reason. Does anyone have any suggestions?

November 5, 1977 to Nov 5, 2017. Wow, it doesn't seem possible. 40!! Against the odds initially given -- I'm looking at the end of 4 decades and the beginning of a 5th. Celebration plans have already begun.

I am sure you are all aware that a new version of the disgusting story of Beauty and the Beast has been released. Aside from it being a love story, involving bestiality and magic, being marketed toward children, it now, reportedly, includes a sodomitic subplot. On a hunch, I decided to look up this director, Bill Condon. Apparently, the director of the latest children's film by Disney is directed by an open and proud sodomite. I found an interview of him with a sodomite travel magazine called "Passport." In it, he is asked: Passport: What is first thing you do when you get into a hotel room? Condon: "I wish I could say I’m like Ian McKellen and immediately…
