Doctrines...not another doctrines book! Yes, but if you've read Tozer before then you know you'll come away scathed, to one degree or another. The Knowledge Of The Holy, as the title might suggest, centers on the doctrines of God. However, I've read and studied doctrines in a classroom environment and this is no ordinary doctrines book. From the outset the reader is challenged to prepare for a different slant. You are not allowed to close your Bible and think that God's word has been neatly tucked away until the next time of devotion. God's word is alive and in the pages of Tozer's book the reader is made aware to know God we must be living the living word.

* IDK the categories very well yet so I hope this is the right place to post this * Does Israel debunk Calvinism? I believe so. I would appreciate your thoughts on this to "fine tune" it. And I never heard Calvinism debunked like this. I give credit to the Lord for showing me this... I'm referring to the "U" in TULIP - "Unconditional Election", where a short summary would be that "God has elected, based solely upon the counsel of his own will, some for glory and others for damnation." - In plain speech, no free will, when someone hears the gospel, if they are "non-elect" they can't make the choice to be saved. What about the nation of Israel? Jesus is the J…

For all of us nerdy book lovers, what are you currently reading? I'm reading "Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas" by James Patterson. It's little umm... not Christian. Either my grandma or my aunt gave it to me (neither is a Christian) and I had no idea what it was about until I got so far into it. :ooops

The Flying Tigers, by John Toland, Landmark Books 1963. "The World War II exploits of America's heroic fighter pilots in China. What an excellent book to re-read after nearly 50 years. I recommend you read it during the Memorial Day weekend, a short read of only 158 pages.

Paradise is novel of 220 pages, by Mark Cahill from 2013. It is his 1st novel, although he has written 3 "non-fiction" books on soul-winning. Paradise is his first of 3 novels. (Paradise, Reunion, and The Last Ride - which partly carry into one another but each could be considered stand alone novels and need not be read in order). Some may rightly think, oh no not another "Christian novel". But all scriptures are taken from the King James Bible (in all his books). I myself am not a fan of novels so much, but Cahill has an interesting writing take in his novel and is useful for both Christians and unbelievers, as it would make a good gift for a lost friend or family m…

I went to a funeral of a man I've known since the 2nd grade. Before killing himself he too had health problems very similar to mine. I've seen him at the doctor's office from time to time. I have joint problems and arthritis, he did too but his was from toxic chemical exposure. I was told at the funeral the doctor told him it was going to get worse and worse. About 2 months ago I talked very seriously with him about going to church. He admitted to me he needed to clean himself up a bit, he was living with a woman and looked like he was in the Taliban. I have no idea how long it had been since his hair and beard has been trimmed. I agreed with him. He was a member of …

Customer calls awhile ago and wants me to send him his logo design as a "pdf" so he can get it put on Facebook. I questioned him "pdf?.......are you sure you don't want a jpeg?" "No, he says, it needs to be pdf cuz a jpeg won't work", I then tried to explain that I put them on Facebook all the time but I was just interrupted. So, instead of arguing, I dutifully retrieved the file from one CAD program, imported it into CorelDraw, converted it to pdf and emailed it to him. He calls back about a half hour later complaining that all I had ever sent him of the design were pdf's and what he needed was a jpeg. I said, "I've already sent you jpegs before and have NEVER sent you a…

The new style gas cans are touted to be better for the environment. You know...less chance for spillage and so forth... Well...let me vent here. Oh wait...there are no vents on the cans. Less chance of spillage? I spilled more gas in two weeks with the new style can than I did in 40 years with the old sane style. It takes twisting and pushing the spout, standing on one foot and using your other foot to counter the inertia built up from the force needed to twist and push the spout, closing one eye while holding your breath for 20 seconds, reciting paragraph 89 of Subsection 101.e3b of Section 673.89 under Heading 809b of the EPA's General Rules and…

A new law has been passed here in California that prohibits grocery stores from providing customers with the traditional plastic bags. Now if you want to be able to carry your groceries you have to buy a bag. Two different kinds of bags are offered for sale at the check stand, one is a heavier plastic and the other is a cloth bag. I do understand that in many places discarded plastic bags are a problem. But to force everyone to pay for the abuse of a few is just not right. For the most part the grocery store traditional bag is extremely recyclable. You carry the groceries to your house with it, then store the bag for reuse in many different ways. I use them for…

This morning at about 5:45 am local time, my daughter in North Carolina gave birth to a healthy, beautiful baby girl. Mother and baby are doing excellent. This is my wife and I's first grand baby, and we sure are pleased and proud. I just wanted to share our blessings with you, my friends.

And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Because thou hast let go out of thy hand a man whom I appointed to utter destruction, therefore thy life shall go for his life, and thy people for his people.- I Kings 20:42 You see here that God promises the king of Israel that since he didn't kill the king of Syria as commanded that God would punish him and the children of Israel because of it. This makes me wonder that if the death penalty isn't carried out when a man is murdered (Genesis 9:5,6) that someone else will pay for the crime or is it that if murderers are continued to be let off the hook that they will murder again, that a culture of murder will develop th…

Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.- Isaiah 66:5 The context of this verse is the Second Coming of Christ where Jews will turn on the remnant in the name of Jehovah.. It's interesting that it's mention that some Jews will be hated and betrayed by their own brethren at this time. Like during the Holocaust when a minority of Jews worked hand in hand with the Nazis in rounding up their own people. Even Dr. Josef Mengele's (aka the Angel of Death) right hand man who actually performed mos…

I'm hoping someone on here might be able to point me in the right direction for an affordable (you can translate that as cheap/free) bus to be used in a church ministry. We have families that are interested in attending, but who lack the means to come on their own for one reason or another. We do have a single 12-passenger van which we use currently to transport folks, but it is insufficient to meet the full need. I'd love to be able to acquire something in the next 2 weeks so that we can use it for VBS. We have 30-40 kids for VBS and most of those need transportation as well. You can imagine how fun that is with a 12-passenger van! I'd prefer something like a 30-40…

I really appreciate it when someone in the intro section actually introduces themselves and is not "ashamed" of their associations. We are not left wondering about who they really are, or what their purpose is in coming. Now, they may still turn out to be a troublemaker.... we all are at times. But nothing looks worse than someone who won't answer a request to give their testimony for instance. You are just left wondering what they are hiding...... Even those who are not IFB but at least are honest enough to say that are appreciated. It is like christian books - why can't people just say where they are from doctrinally by identifying …

Greetings folks! I'm a newbie here but I hope I'll find a warm welcome. My name is Aaron Freeman and I'm a veteran independent Baptist church-planting missionary serving the Lord along the Mexico border in southern Texas (on the US side). In 2018 we'll be celebrating 10 years on the field. As part of this celebration we're planning a special event called a "Border Surge". In essence, we're looking for individuals and groups to join together with us for 8 weeks (or more) of evangelistic outreaches. We don't expect any one person or group to stay all 8 weeks, of course. Rather, we are looking to host 8 separate 1-week mission trips back-to-back. We'd like to have 25…

Recently, I was asked by a friend of mine if I would recommend that she let her 5 year old daughter watch the Disney animated film, Prince of Egypt. I have never seen the film, but from what I know of Disney films, I said, "Absolutely not." She said she was confused because everyone said it was a good Christian film and that it was biblically accurate. I decided to see what people think is a biblically accurate Disney film and so, tonight, I watched it. I just finished it a few moments ago. I must say that I am not surprised that Hollywood had produced another biblically inaccurate film to add to the scores of others. It does surprise me how many professing C…

Europe signs “the Rome Declaration” in hopes of globalizing a continent. Twenty-Seven European leaders pledge their support of a modernized Europe in hope of a stable future. I was surprised by how many times the article pointed out that Europe has enjoyed sixty years of peace (four times) and Jean-Claude Juncker stated that in relation to past attempts to bring Europe together the recent sixty years is almost like “an eternal peace”. I believe this historical moment is merely a precursor for the world to push for peace in all corners of the globe. Setting a precedent of peace (meaning no war) will soon be the rallying cry of those embracing a global communi…

I have recently read a few articles on global warming and while I somewhat detest the tree hugger mentality, I do hate the idea of cutting down trees, and love wildlife reserves and such. My question is this, are the "scientists" who are proclaiming that in the next 30-50 years the heat of our continent's will rise to nearly unbearable temperatures correct and if they are, do you think this is the preparation for events during the tribulation period concerning the trumpets and vials? I am leaning toward yes in both instances but honestly I would like to read someone who I know can be trusted. Your thoughts please.

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in the Homesteading forum...I don't guess Bonsai Trees qualifies as self-sufficiency? LOL! Anyway, I've long been interested in Bonsai Trees. I've never bought one though. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with them, because I think I'm going to consider trying to make one out of a small tree that I've found where I work. Of course, I'll read up on how to do it if I move forward with this, but before I do that...if anyone has any experience, can you tell me if this is even doable with this tree? I've placed a regular Bic Pen next to it for size comparison...

Hi guys! first post.. So im active on a board for fitness and in the non-sense board there is a Christian debate going on. I have posted two replies and im wondering if its worth it. In person you can talk to a person and see them, and you are not arguing vs who is better at googling answers etc. At the same time, just like hearing someing cussing and using Gods name, watching these threads just drive me mental at the ignorance about what "christians believe". What do you think? Boards like this between christians learning and sharpening theology I love... but the debate vs an atheist.. fruitful?

Always makes me laugh when I look at the "people on line" stats and see anonymous users. I wonder what they have to hide. Makes me laugh even more when they post whilst anonymous and think people won't notice that they are not listed by name despite having OBVIOUSLY (by their posts) been online. Does make me less inclined to trust them too. But mostly gives me a chuckle.

We are not interested in arguing or debating. This board is set up for IFB to fellowship and uplift our Lord Jesus Christ. ________________________________________________________________________________________________ Note that this forum IS NOT A PLACE FOR ARGUING OR DEBATING, according to the owner of the board. Fellowship and discussion yes, but debating, No. There is a specific place for mo…

I turned 50 this month, my first child is heading to the middle east on deployment this fall, my second child, the cop, is joining the Marines this summer, my third child and her husband are expecting our first grand baby in North Carolina in about 3 weeks and my 4th child graduates high school in May. It's all just too much ... so I went and bought a motorcycle today :). Not ready to strap to that rocking chair just yet. My wife and I had our first date about 27 years ago up here in Alaska, and it was going for a ride in the rain at night on my new motorcycle. When I called her today and said I found one and wanted to buy it, I couldn't even get the words fully out of my…
