Is the Anglican Church male-dominated? It's trying not to be. The Diocese of Dunedin was the first in the world to appoint a female Bishop, and there are now many female priests in the Anglican Church in New Zealand. Most services and modern hymns use inclusive language. Some traditional hymns and forms of service do unfortunately contain male-specific language which can't be removed without damage to their poetic quality. We still often (but not always) refer to God as ‘He’ and ‘Father’, because sadly the English language has no suitable neutral terms other than the horribly impersonal ‘it’. We are working on improvements in this area. Totally unbiblical. T…

Recently an elderly church member that has no family living locally fell in her yard tripping over a root under a large oak tree, when she fell she fell face 1st on another root. Broke her nose, got cuts in her lower lip an chin that tool a few stitches, broke her thumb. I got a call when this happened and went to her house along with a niece. Of course we took her to the local hospital to have her checked out and she stayed a few days and her children came in. Sunday night I had a conversation with her youngest daughter who describe a woman that I do not know, one that cannot see, cannot drive, cannot make rational decisions, cannot get around, cannot take care of her …

CHURCH HOSTS GLOBAL FAITH FORUM FOR WORLD'S RELIGIONS By Paul Proctor November 17, 2010 NewsWithViews.com The Christian Post reported recently that NorthWood Church in Keller, Texas, scheduled a GlOBal Faith Forum for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists in hopes they would “listen to one another and even build friendships.” The report stated, “the forum isn't a gathering of theologians to debate religions,” but instead, an “opportunity for people of multiple faiths to get to know one another, start conversations, and learn from each other.” Yeah, try and find that in your Bible. I guess the Apostle Paul blew it. Just think what he could have …

A SILENT WITNESS By Coach Dave Daubenmire November 18, 2010 NewsWithViews.com “Silence isn’t golden, it’s yellow.” Zell Miller “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. “So, what does a witness do?” I asked the pudgy man standing before me. I could tell he was uncomfortable by the way he shuffled his feet and dropped his eyes. But the old coach in me can smell cowardice. Over the years I have witnessed many young men wilt in the face of adversity on the football field. It is impossible to disguise; t…

Last night, Nov 16, 2010, I heard U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert speak in behalf of a resolution he introduced this year (and several years in the past). He would like to see the resolution become a bill and signed as law. Here it is: 1. H.RES.1510 : Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 4636) to prohibit United States assistance to foreign countries that oppose the position of the United States in the United Nations. Sponsor: Rep Gohmert, Louie [TX-1] (introduced 7/13/2010) Makes sense to me that we stop foriegn aid to countries like Yemen etc. All that said...he read from a book which contained many of our nation's leaders substantiating that we are a Christi…

Illustration for the unity of believers; the church: Bring several pop-sickle sticks to class (matchsticks, or even toothpicks). pass one around to s few kids, and ask them to break the stick; increase the number of sticks and allow them to try and break them all together. Eventually, they will not be able to do so. Explain that as the church grows, it too becomes stronger, and resists the trials that come against it. they, in fact, show whee the weaknesses are, and thereby strengthen the church.

This is something that I wanted to do ever since we switched the software over to IPB, sorry it took so long. As you have noticed we have a new default "cleaner" look to Online Baptist. It may be a new look , but everything is pretty much located in the same place. Enjoy the new look. If it is too much for you, you can revert back using the skin changer located at the bottom left of the boards. Change it from CleanCut to IP.Board. BroMatt PS. Sometime next week I will be making an announcement for our new classified section.

In my devotion this morning God reminded me how fortunate for those who are saved at an early age. Psalms 90:14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. Psalms 90:15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. Added Lisa Anne to prayers - God's grace before her family What did God say to you today?

Why do so many Christians believe in these things and forward them to everyone they know? Where do these originate? I received this in my email this morning: OUR LORD 'S PRAYER The moment you receive it, say: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory now and forever Amen.. GO D WANTE D ME TO TELL YOU, It shall be well with you this coming year.. No matter how mu…

For the next two weeks, I'm afraid eating will be high on the agenda. In the office where I work, there is a Department Thanksgiving breakfast tomorrow, and a company-wide Thanksgiving lunch on Thursday. Then there is a small Thanksgiving get-together with my Bible study group this weekend, as well as a church-wide Thanksgiving fellowship dinner Sunday. I will be spending Thanksgiving with a lovely family in the country (the mother and father, a grandmother and grandfather, and 10 children, plus I believe they are inviting two or three other unmarried people who have nowhere to go on Thanksgiving. It should be a chaotic affair!!!!) Some of the dear godly men in my…

We watched this last night. Such a good movie! The TenBoom family of Holland were not Jews. They were Christians. When the Nazis took over the country, the TenBooms became involved in hiding Jews and helping them escape. Love for and trust in God was so evident in their lives! They were betrayed and captured. Papa TenBoom died not long after his capture. Corrie was in prison, and was called into the lieutenant's office. He was trying to break her, but she didn't break. And then he asked her what kind of God allows an old man to die in prison and be buried in a pauper's grave (because no-one was able to claim the body). Even that didn't bring tears (until lat…

I am looking in to getting myself a devotional journal. While looking around on these sites I keep thinking how I would like to get my husband a book. Not necessarily a journal but something that will help him to grow in his Christian life. I don't want anything that is a step-by-step guide on how to be a Christian, just something inspirational for a man who is a young child of God and growing every day in Christ. Any ideas would be appreciated

How many attend a Bible study at their church? About how many attend this Bible study? What are you studying now? Does your church offer other Bible studies also? I attend a midweek Bible study led by our associate pastor. There is typically between 4 and 6 of us, including our associate pastor, but on occasions we have had a few more. We are currently studying the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, the "hall of faith". Prior to that we studied the book of Genesis and soon we'll have to decide which book to study next. Our church has two other Bible studies, one for men at 5:30 in the morning which our pastor leads, and one on Thursday which is open to all but has be…
