Bible Banned 1 2 3 4

There have been several post that mentioned bibles having to be smuggled into certain countries or regions. I was just wandering if anyone knew knew of specific places were this is happening today? Such as, are there any countries who legislatively ban bibles or are there specific regions of the earth were the bible is banned for whatever reason? I know this was prominent during the heyday of the communist movement (although all religious literature was banned, not just the christian bible) but I haven't seen any credible evidence of it still going on today. Thanks for the help.

I was given a paperback NT about twelve years ago by a youth pastor that was going door-to-door. He invited me to his church and I said I would go, but being the unsaved liar that I was, I didn't go. I put that NT one one of my shelves and forgot about it. Five years ago I was still an unsaved liar, but I was also a drunkard and a whoremonger. One night, sitting on my bed and disgusted with myself and with life, I remembered that paperback NT and found it under a pile of junk. I opened it and in the front cover, there was a brief intro about basically what I was going through and that Jesus Christ was the only answer. It said "turn to page..." and I turned. Rom.…

First let me say that i believe we serve a fair and just God, so there must be a legitimate answer to my question. My question is "What of the Indians, people from tribes in Africa and other places that have never heard of Jesus?" Im talking mostly about when America was first being settled etc... What about the Indians that were here and died before the message of Christ was brought over? Im know they are connected all the way back to Adam and Eve, but that doesn't address people who died while practicing whatever their tribe was into? IOW does the Bible address what happens to people who live, die, and never hear the Gospel?

When did the church begin? There are two schools of thought on this one. One says during the ministry of Jesus while others say at Pentecost. I don?t wish to enter into this argument. My problem is Ac 7:38 This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel which spake to him in the mount Sina, and with our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us: Many are opposed to any criticism of how a word in the KJV is translated. Without commenting on the translation of ekklesia. How do we reconcile Acts 7:38 with the above positions. ekklesia however can be translated assembly. Had it been there would be no seeming conflict. I am solid…

Was God Giving the People of the Old Testament a Hint?
by Guest Guest- 3 replies

Was God trying to give the people of the Old Testament a little hint or preview about what was to happen many generations later? Is this the earliest "Passion Play" known to man? Abraham goes to sacrifice his only son, Isaac. God the Father sacrifices his only son, Jesus. Isaac carries his own wood. Jesus carries his own cross. A ram was seen with it's head caught in a thicket. Jesus wears a crown of thorns on his head. The ram (an adult lamb) gets sacrificed. Jesus is called the lamb of God and gets sacrificed for the sins of the world. Abraham sends his unnamed servant to find a bride for Isaac. The Holy Spirit, which has no name, is sent to find member…

Whilst I'm happy to acknowledge verses like 2 Timothy 3:16, there's no denying the fact that Christians rarely hand out soul-winning tracts quoting Exodus 26:19 or 36:21. So, now that I'm moving on to Leviticus, I'm beginning to wonder if there's other parts of the Bible I ought to be reading sooner. If tomorrow you were to give a Bible to someone who had never read it before, what five books would you advise them to read first?

Why does Jesus say this? "And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Isn't Jesus God..? I don't understand why He would say He wasn't good...

Curious
by Guest Guest- 6 replies

I have been going to church my whole life, but I do not know very much about the KJV viewpoint and I am curious about it. An old schoolmate contacted my friend a while back. While in school, this person had been always in trouble and into bad things. When he contacted my friend, his life had been totally changed. He had moved to Mississippi and become a Christian who read and promoted the KJV translation of the Bible. For a while though, he was talking to my friend about everything he believed and my friend was telling me about it. He convicted both me and my friend - but after a while they lost contact and my friend, who is also a Christian, seemed to forget about it. …

I have been doing a lot of reading especially in 1 Samuel and noticed that David had more than one wife and I also know that Jacob had more than one wife. Why is that it was kind of confusing but I guess that is what they did back then right? Am I right?

hi, I don't know if this is worthy challenge. Can someone help me. 1) I need to obtain text of NIV bible in Word document. Preferably One Book, One Word document. 2) I need to obtain text of NASB bible in Word document. Preferably One Book, One Word document. 3) I need help preparing KJV bible to Word document. Preferably One Book, One Word document. I will post results of KJV vs. NIV bible comparsion, the whole bible in similar manner (see --> blog). Advantage: 1) Instead of spending hours proof-reading NIV bible, this immediately shows what changed against KJV bible. Every tittle (now called punctuation marks) every word changed.

A story so intriguing, and so astounding that it actually seems that it has regenerated throughout history. this history of Rome revolves around the murder of a brother against his kin in order to gain supremacy, so its resounding. do you think that cultures take this story and disregard or is it almost an accepted metaphor for such a brutal murder and shows were loyalty and such lie? Hi guys. I watched most of Bart Ehrman's videos about 'Misquoting Jesus' over at UTube and there has been some discussion going on. Most are Bible mockers of course but there are one or two other Bible believers. Anyway, this was just posted today and I thought it was highly significant. This guy is very serious. He is not joking at all and he has been posting mocking questions and critical comments about the Bible and Christianity. I've answered him a few times but only God can break through the darkness. "And there are many of us atheists who were dedicated Christians for over 20 years before they went off to Bible College to prepare for the ministry, began stud…

(Therefore turn thou to thy God: keep mercy and judgment, and wait on thy God continually. )<[The verse] :puzzled: When I was reading this verse it says keep mercy and judgment. Does this mean to keep mercy and judgment on people, or wait to show mercy and judgment when God prompts? I am really confused as to what it is saying. :puzzled:

I John 2:15-17 says, "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever." We as believers need to be separated from the world and its lusts. But we need to be separated unto God from the world. We can live a separated, legalistic life in the flesh, but we will not be separated unto God unless we are filled or controlled by the Holy Spirit. To be…

How old was Abraham when Ishmael was born as compared to when Issac was born?
Last reply by LAF, -
Feel free to accuse me of being simple, but when I read the Bible I read what it says. I don't try to read what I think it might say. I don't analyze every single word, and investigate it's base meanings, and examine it for possible re-interpretations of meaning. I believe that I can give the Bible to my 13 year old and he will read and understand truth from it, just as I will. (He is saved by the way.) I find it interesting that people find all sorts of issues where they believe that you have to have a master's degree in musical theory, or in Greek or in Hebrew, or in physics and chemistry if you are to understand properly. What ever happened to "faith as a lit…

The translation of the Bible into English marked the birth of religious fundamentalism in medieval times, as well as the persecution that often comes with radical adherence in any era, according to a new book. The 16th-century English Reformation, the historic period during which the Scriptures first became widely available in a common tongue, is often hailed by scholars as a moment of liberation for the general public, as it no longer needed to rely solely on the clergy to interpret the verses. (as it was posted before, When the Lord Tarries, a new translation will come out so peole do not have to rely on a religion to hear God's Words. The Catholic Church was becomin…

I am a student at this college in Oklahoma City and i wanted to thank all of the Churches that support the school you make it possible for me to afford the cost of the school. If any other churches want to get involved with helping the school train up men and women for the ministry you can go to their website and get a hold of them about support ing the school. The web address is http://www.heartlandbaptist.edu/ . Or you can call them at 1-877-943-9330, and ask for Brother Copes. Agian thank you and i hope you have a wonderful New Year.* * This was my own doing Heartland did not ask me to do this. May God Bless.
