Greetings, I wanted a "little Bible" to take to work with me and carry around in my tool box. So I bought a KJV-ER at a local Christian bookstore. If you're not familiar with the version, all it does is change some of the Old English words to modern English. For example, "Thou shalt not kill" would be "You shall not kill" and "Loveth" would be "Loves." I do know there are certain benefits to the "Thees, Thous, and Ye's" but would you consider these simple changes harmful in any way?

Biblical Inerrancy Proved From The Bible

There are many Christians out there that do not believe in the inerrancy of the Bible. However, the Bible clearly states that it is inerrant. Take a look at these verses with my own commentary: Psa 12:6 KJV The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psa 12:7 KJV Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever. As this verse says, the words of the Lord are pure words as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times! We know that according to Biblical numerology, seven is the perfect number. Therefore, the Bible is here saying that the Bible is perfect. In ve…

I went to a sermon yesterday that included a reading of Psalm 51 and the line: 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. I suddenly realised that one of my favourite poems, 'Ballad of Reading Gaol' by Oscar Wilde, directly quotes this verse: "...And every human heart that breaks, In prison-cell or yard, Is as that broken box that gave Its treasure to the Lord, And filled the unclean leper's house With the scent of costliest nard. Ah! happy day they whose hearts can break And peace of pardon win! How else may man make straight his plan And cleanse his soul from Sin? How else but through a bro…

Crimen Laesae Maiestatis (Latin) -literally, The Crime of Injured Majesty; an offense against the dignity, person, or authority of a reigning sovereign; high treason. The ungodding of God; the unwording of the Word. After being baptized in 2005, I switched from my SBC a few months ago to an IFB church. The catalyst for me was the research I had been doing on the NWT Bible version (JW bible). After comparing many bible versions, it became apparant to me that the doctrines of the JW's are in large part supported by the faulty bible version they use. I futher found out that the Modern Versions (MV's) were more often than not in agreement with the cult bible I had grown …

Reworked Bible stories feature Goliath as a drunk, Eve as sex mad By PAUL SIMS London Daily Times March 26, 2008 Goliath is a celebrity binge drinker, Eve is a sex-obsessed man-eater and Noah's wife wants to kill him . . . welcome to the updated Bible. An Anglican vicar has rewritten the most famous biblical tales because he wants to make them more "accessible" to modern readers. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/showbiz/showbiznews.html?in_article_id=546408&in_page_id=1773

An EX- KJB believer loses his mind Fred Butler is a former KJB onlyist who has lost both his Bible and apparently his mind too. Fred regularly posts his blogs on the internet and is involved in several Bible discussion boards. He claims to be a former King James Bible only believer who has now ?seen the light? and he no longer believes the KJB is the only true Bible. Fred now finds himself in the position of being a double-minded man whose thinking and reasoning abilities have become so confused that he can?t even see the absurdity of his own blatant, self-contradictions. Sometimes he says he believes in the inerrancy of Scripture, but he doesn?t bother telling us…

Has anyone heard of this? The New Testament in a magazine? It's called a Bible-zine. Check out this article on av1611.org: http://www.av1611.org/KJV/revolve.html My husband has read some of the reviews on Amazon...it's quite shocking. Even more shocking is that the publisher of this so-called Bible-zine would attempt to package this garbage as a Bible. The publisher is none other than Thomas Nelson, Inc.

I was looking at the commentaries on E-Sword http://www.e-sword.net/commentaries.html And was wondering if anyone knows anything about them and can recommend ones here that may be okay to add on to my Bible download. Jamieson, Fausset and Brown Commentary and Keil & Delitzsch Commentary on the Old Testament were recommended to me about 6 years ago by a friend but he goes to a different church so I dont know if people here would think differently. Thanks for your help. Albert Barnes' Notes on the Bible Adam Clarke's Commentary on the Bible John Darby's Synopsis of the Bible Geneva Bible Translation Notes John Gill's Exposition of the Ent…

What are the thoughts of this board's members on pre-modern versions (PMVs)? Let us assume, for the sake of discussion, that modernity began at midnight, January 1st, A.D. 1500. That's kind of an arbitrary date, but I wanted to exclude the entire Tyndale tradition--in fact, the entire Erasmian NT tradition. The only PMV I use with any regularity is the Stuttgart Vulgate which, wheresoever its editors succeeded, reproduces the text of Jerome and his immediate successors. (And wheresoever they fell short, they at least printed a spelling-regularized medieval Vulgate.) I need a dictionary handy and I sometimes consult a modern version when I find Jerome indecipherable, but…

?DIVERS were hardened, and believed not? - Acts 19:9 Bible Mockers Reveal Their Ignorance and Hatred towards The Book There is a mocking article I have seen several times now circulating around the internet. The often copied author seems to think he is really cute and clever as he offers up what he calls his ?lampoon of King James Only?. So you can see it for yourself, here it is in all its devious wit. We will then explode this fool?s lampoon as being nothing more than mocking ignorance. SCUBA IN THE KING JAMES BIBLE - A King James Only Lampoon http://www.acts17-11.com/cows_scuba.html ?Persuaded beyond sensibility by Gail Riplinger, Peter Ruckman, Texe Marrs, …

Satyrs, Dragons, and Unicorns There are many atheistic, Islamic and Christian sites that criticize the King James Bible and its use of such terms as satyrs, dragons and unicorns as being mythological creatures and therefore erroneous translations. I find it of great significance that the only Bible these sites seem to pick on and criticize is the King James Bible. Modern Bible critics don't believe any Bible version or specific Hebrew or Greek text is the infallible words of God, and they don't defend their NASB, NIV, RSV, ESV, or NKJV as being totally accurate or inspired. The only Bible believed by multiplied thousands if not millions of Christians today to be the i…

The Deficiences of the Geneva Bible Textually speaking the Geneva Bible is far better than the modern, ever changing Critical Text versions like the NASB, RSV, NRSV, ESV, NIV, TNIV, NET, and the middle of the road versions like the NKJV and the Holman Standard. However the Geneva Bible was and is not God?s perfect Book and in His sovereignty it was placed on the shelf of virtual oblivion about 350 years ago. No one I know of defends or believes the various Geneva Bibles to be the complete and infallible word of God, but many rightly do prefer it above such modern versions as the NASB, NIV and ESV. Here are just a few examples showing the inferiority of the Geneva Bi…

I would be grateful if someone could clear up a point for me. In Titus 2 v 11 KJV we read "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men". In the French Loius Segond (which is the same text as the KJV) we read it the other way round viz. "For the grace of God, source of salvation for all men, has been manifested". As both are based on the same text yet teach slightly difference things I must confess to some confusion. Is anyone able to help? Bob

Sword of Lord is having a "King James Bible Conference" January 16-18. The conference subject is "Making the case for an inspired, inerrant, infallible Bible in the English language." It sure is good to see the "Sword" actively defending the KJB....

The pastor who became ?an expert in Greek? and lost his Bible. This article is written in response to a post made at the internet club called The Baptist Zone. A man who calls himself Pastor Tim made the initial post and claimed he used to be a King James Bible believer but now, having studied Greek, thinks his own opinions and insights are far better than those men God chose to put together the greatest masterpiece in the English language - the Authorized King James Bible. ?Pastor? Tim no longer believes that any Bible is the infallible word of God and he now uses the NKJV, but he doesn?t believe it is without errors too. In fact, as we shall soon see, the very thing…

Hello, I am holdencaulfield, this is a new account that I registered to apologize. I realize that my coming here on this forum, in order to argue and attack your faith was extremely un-Christian of me, and I apologize. I am sorry that I tried to come here and make you question your faith. This was a completely unprovoked attack by me. I am very sorry that I did this. This was a sin that I did. I hope that you can forgive me with time. If I have somehow made everyone on this forum question their faith then, again I am truly sorry. My intent was never to lead people away from Christ. I have learned a valuable lesson from this. That we all have our own faiths, and I shoul…

Jesus was without any sin, so it couldn't be to dishonor her since that would mean sinning by breaking the same commandments that he told us that we have to follow. I don't think that the Bible mentions anyone else always calling their mother "Woman".

I brought this up in the simple or complex thread, but I would like to find out peoples answers to this question. Did God preserve His word in the form/words He wanted us to have it? If He did not, why not?
