  1. Last night we had hamburger steaks, baked beans, and bbq potato chips. Tonight we're probably going to have ribeye steak, potato and a salad. It depends on whether or not we get everything else we need to get done today finished and have time to cook. The weather is supposed to be pretty nice today, so we're hoping we can get it all done.
  2. No aggression here... I saw nothing wrong with the language. I've heard it used in my IFB church growing up, and in almost every church I've been associated with. Have never heard it called or pointed out as improper. You seem to have a problem with me.
  3. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx It was a simple question. Nobody is saying that the devil isn't real and isn't trying to wipe out the WoG. And I've already stated many times here I only use the KJV in my preaching and teaching. But, to say that these things were "changed" and trying to make them fit to the TR or the HMT isn't honest. And yes, nearly all, if not all of the MV's have differences in the wording in that particular passage.
  4. Do they stay true to their underlying texts? If so, then they're not changing anything. They're simply going by their underlying texts.
  5. Is that an accusation, Brother? I don't believe anyone is trying to sidestep anything here, nor do I believe anyone is trying to mock anything. A simple statement of the truth isn't mocking anything.
  6. Yep....and food as well, since people can become gluttons.
  7. I've never heard of it being presented as anything other than Christ. As Hugh has pointed out, "angel" can be used to men "appearance."
  8. Thank you for the clarification. I'm Baptist because I believe they're historically closest to the Bible teachings as well, though I have been instrumental in starting a couple of Bible churches, and Community churches. Out of the 18 churches we've helped start, whether they had the label "Baptist," "Community," or "Bible" only seven stood firm and are still doing so today, with six others closing or being absorbed into other churches within the first five years. The other five drifted off into the "woke" ideologies and have gone the way of Hillcrest, Elevation, etc. I hate to see that, but, the Bible says that many will depart from the faith.
  9. Last May (2021) I started and finished a 3 shot treatment for continuing vertigo and tinnitus attacks in my left ear. It seemed to have worked until I got "the vid" at the end of August last year. But early to mid October, the vertigo had come back full on. I dealt with it through diet for a short while, but it's consistantly gotten worse. Last month when I went back for my yearly checkup with the ENT specialist, I was told that I would need to start another round of injections to see if it would help quell the attacks. They started this morning. If this set of three (weekly on Mondays) doesn't work, the only option left me is a surgery on the bone behind my ear (the hardest bone in the body), to cut the nerve leading to the inner ear. It "might" alleviate the dizzy spells, but it will leave me permanently deaf in that ear. It could also have some other serious side effects. Please pray that if it's the Lords will that this round of shots will help and that I won't need to go through surgery. I wouldn't anyhow. I'd live with the imbalance that I have and would "suffer in silence." It's disconcerting because the doctor says that I also need this same treatment in my right ear. But, they can only do the surgery in one ear...not both. Please pray the Lord will give me discernment in what to do. Thanks. BT
  10. As you've indicated earlier, Brother, even IFB churches can be deceptive using that "label." Case in point, FBC Hammond, In. They've used the label for years and were run by an egomaniacal dictator with many accusations of sexual impropriety and helping his son to live in an ungodly manner. Yet, many people I know, and knew then, swore by JH, and loved his immoral son, DH. This isn't the only church or set of people that lived like this. Joe Combs and his wife over in Knoxville, TN, a friend and associate of JH and FBC Hammond. Then we have Mr (Pastor) Greg Locke who used to be at Franklin Road Baptist Church in Tennessee who split off from FRBC and started the Global Vision Baptist Church (now the Global Vision Bible Church) in the Nashville area. He suckered many people into his IFB church and slowly changed his doctrinal stance, though I don't believe he ever held to the fundamental doctrines that many IFB pastors/churches claim to hold. I know of many IFB churches that claim to be "Independent, Fundamental, Baptist" churches, but don't hold to the Baptist dinstinctives any more than a Lutheran or Methodist church would. Names can be deceiving. On the note of the "disparaging," of the Bible and Community churches, that was not aimed specifically at you. There have been several here who have made disparaging remarks. I stated this only to point out that Baptists don't hold a monopoly on Biblical truth. That sounds more like a David Cloud idea implying they do.
  11. They can, and the often do. We've been in many "Bible" and "Community" churches, as someone seems to have disparaged here lately, that have been every bit as doctrinally sound as one that bears the title of and "Independent (Big "I"), Fundamental, Baptist. What MAKES a Baptist? I hate to disagree with many here, but, it's definitely not a label. I know it's not a popular opinion here, but, that's the way it is.
  12. Boris Johnson brought a lot of the problems he has on himself. He never really was known for strong leadership...I always believed him to be lesser in ability than his predecessor, May. She seemed to have some backbone...though not the backbone of a Thatcher.
  13. Hugh, it's hard to freak out knowing this bring the return of Jesus Christ for the church that much closer. We need to be giving the gospel to everybody we can while there is still time. My mother, at 79 years old, is still giving out the gospel daily to those in the complex where she lives. Many of the people who live in the high rise go with her to church every Sunday, and several have been saved over the past few years before going on to be with the Lord. She uses the kinds of things to bring forth the gospel to those in that high rise. Praise the Lord we have this ministry!
  14. I believe that his being included as a Nazarite in the book of Judges is a good indication that he was a judge. The Israelites recognized him as such. Shouldn't we?
  15. Jerry...are you sure you didn't listen to a broadcast from Robert Morris? ? LOL That was exactly what he was speaking on today! ?
  16. Though in principle some of this is true...would you explain something like the Sequoia that has lived over 4000 yrs? Or the other trees that have lived to be thousands of years old around the world and seem to still be going strong? The Bible talks about our lives being like a blade of "grass" that withers and fades. 1 Peter 1:24 For All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
  17. Just because the liberals are here doesn't necessarily mean that we've accepted them. Please, don't generalize and make blanket statements saying "We put them in office." Many of us have voted against liberals at every turn. We can't control other people, their ideologies, or their votes. The only thing we can do is preach the Word, share Jesus Christ, and let the Holy Spirit work.
  18. Not a problem. I've asked my friend who is a pastor in MO to see if there are any in that particular area. He should be getting back to me in the next 24 hours. ?
  19. I can't find anything in MS on Ava...I have done multiple searches in each state, and there are several states that have an "Ava" as in the city...but they're Missouri, Arkansas, etc. None in MS. But, they also have AVA, as in the description I sent to you. Is the state correct?
  20. I can see that this administration is doing it's best to disarm the law abiding gun owners from purchasing and keeping their arms. But, I know far too many who are against this, including myself. I am a law abiding citizen, and I am a registered gun owner. Most of my family members are as well, especially since many are military, or are in law enforcement. None of us are willing to just "hand over" our arms to this tyrannical administration in power, nor would we be willing to just give them up. Those who are criminals don't care about the gun laws in this country anyhow, and those of us who have guns legally need them for protection, hunting, and for recreational shooting.
  21. Jim, is that the name of the town, or is it a part of the AVA (American Viticultural Area)? I've never heard of Ava outside of that terminology in regards to MS.
  22. Have a nice 4th, Morales. For this country, it's a great milestone. There are some things to celebrate, and some things to mourn. We're 246 years old as a nation. That's a great number of years. We've been a world leader for many of those years. God has blessed us. It's very possible that He may be disciplining us now. Or, it may be that we're beyond hope. The only thing I can refer back to is the Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. I've heard many preachers using this verse over the past several years, applying it to Christians. It's possible it can be, and I know many Christians who are seeking his face and looking for revival in our country. Happy Birthday, United States of America.
  23. Forty years ago I almost went to Liberty University. It had some excellent programs, and there were many people being won to Christ through it's ministry and the ministry of the church pastored by Dr. Jerry Falwell. Brother Hindson was a great influence on the university and many of my friends who attended Liberty. https://www.liberty.edu/news/2022/07/02/liberty-university-mourns-the-loss-of-luminary-biblical-scholar-and-dean-emeritus-dr-ed-hindson/?fbclid=IwAR3Kyqf6Hx6dIZm-BdSbUeKsbdFuxhsinDDEEkdNlKy0pt_M9Ly1icvkAMw
  24. I know for a fact that it was never accepted in the church where my niece and NIL are.
  25. I don't have anything right at my fingertips.. Most of their reporting is on the SBC churches, though. Another place to be wary of is the Roys report.
