  1. I've got a suggestion made in fun....why don't you go jump in a lake? LOL My dad used to say that when we'd say something similar to what you just posted! How I miss my dad and his humor. All that having been said, it's 97 degrees here with a heat index of 107 and himidity at 52%. It's supposed to stay this way for the next 14 days. UGH!
  2. Well, it's finally Friday evening! Tonight we'll be having a small chuck roast with potatoes, carrots, green pepper, celery, onion, garlic, and mushrooms from the slow-cooker! I'm getting ready to put it on as soon as I get the veggies sliced, peeled, etc. I plan on making some homemade biscuits and having honey butter with them. This roast should go two days, and tomorrow we'll just add a can of green beans or peas to it. I also plan on having some corn on the cob this evening. Being raised in Illinois, and having worked in the cornfields detassling the corn every year for Summer Brothers Seed Company, I'm partial to corn. Tonight we'll have a chocolate shake for dessert. It's going to be 98 degrees here, with a heat index of over 110, so, that will help to cool us down! Bailey, Hailey and Pepper will have their usual ice pop.
  3. Welcome to the forums. I'm going to make a suggestion, as it's usually customary for a new member to go into the forums and find the forum to introduce themselves. It helps us to get to know you better, and also allows us to welcome you. There are several good publishers of the KJV available. Many are "in house" (church printing ministries) who do this. I can't remember them off the top of my head at present...I haven't had enough coffee (go juice as my wife calls it) to be awake enough to recall things yet. I still have my Old Scofield, given to me in 1971, and also have a Cambridge and Thompson Chain Reference of the KJV. I need a new one and have been searching myself for one for my wife and myself.
  4. I truly don't think that Putin is going to go up against NATO. That might prove unhealthy for the Russian people. There are some who will stand up to Putin. Truly, I don't know where you get some of your political ideology or information, but its just not historically or feasibly sound.
  5. Sounds pretty good! We haven't had those in a year or so. Might have some this weekend! ? For us, my wife asked me to make chicken strips and french fries with a side salad. We might eat some farm fresh corn-on-the-cob as well. I made some last night and there are still two ears left.
  6. Welcome to OB.
  7. I think they'll survive. If I'm not mistake, Mr. Johnson still have until his successor is chosen to try and shape history in the UK. I don't think he'll be very successful at moving his agenda forward, but, I do believe it gives him time set up some challenges for his successor.
  8. The churches are all autonomous and can do what they wish. Not all churches who fellowship with the SBC are the same. Generalizations against them by others are just as bad as someone generalizing things against IFB churches. I've been in both camps and see some differences in all of them.
  9. LOL...Being "left-leaning" has nothing to do with being left handed...though being left handed might explain which part of the brain is affected! ? I hope I'm not a prophet! That would be "creepy" to me!
  10. I guess I can agree that the main interest in the campaign, the one running for office,, could be totally honest. And I can agree that poor choices in staff don't make that person culpible for the decisions made by the operative. I would hope, though, as they are honest in their dealings that they'd be quick to disavow and suspend the operatives continuance in the campaign. I know from experience that it's not always as easy as that. I once ran for justice of the peace in a small town in Illinois. But, I dropped out of the race when the older gentleman, who was a Christian, wanted to finish his life as JOP. He only had a year to live, and he had been a good JOP for the area. He was also the mayor of the small community. ? I moved just six weeks before he passed away at the age of 76.
  11. I always love these kinds of threads on other forums I'm on! When I had my own forum, this was one of the best forums because of the things people would write to keep it going. One man posted one line each time from one of his sermons! Loved that! Several of the men and women posted about what God was doing in their lives! We even had one where a young man had stumbled across the site, and we had the keyword "suicide" because of a friends death by suicide earlier that year, and he was referred by us to a Christian mental health center. He's married to a wonderful woman and in the ministry now!
  12. Oh, I love brats! I worked as a temp in a Johnsonville plant for three weeks. We got free brats several times, and different varieties as well. The plain brats are okay, but I love the variety that is available now days! Bacon and cheddar brats rock! ? Tonight, Vivian said she just wanted sandwiches and chips because of the heat advisory we're under here. Nothing hot sounds good to her, nor to me. So, I guess it'll be a ham, turkey, and bologna sandwich for each of us with some onion and sour cream chips. We're supposed to be in the 100s today with storms that will make it nearly unbearable in humidity. UGH! Thank the Lord for air conditioning!
  13. That sounds so good, LuAnne! I think Vivian and I will have steak on Wednesday night with a side salad, baked potato, and a home made roll. ? Tonight, however, Vivian made sure that I had the second store bought, frozen pizza ready for this evening. All I have to do is heat it and make a side salad! Seems like we're wanting more salads this year since it's so hot. Yesterday we had some severe storms, but they quickly subsided and the heat and humidity became absolutely unbearable. We found a great deal on pork butts at Kroger yesterday and had them cut up so we had four good sized pieces of meat. Each portion will last us several days, and we got all of that for under $25. We thank the Lord that he led us across this deal. We don't eat much pork, but we surely do like it for BBQ! YUM!
  14. I can give you that they don't try to be dishonest, but, in most cases I've come across (and I've been involved in many political campaigns in my 60+ years on this earth), whether directly or indirectly most if not all campaigns have a level of dishonesty. Personally, I've never seen one that didn't have one schiester involved in their staff. The one running is just as culpible as the staff member who is the problem unless they quickly come out and disavow any information that was deceptive. I wish my sister would have been quicker to disavow information that wasn't correct, and that she wouldn't have posted it on her political site, making it look as if she supported on person over the other. She has been backing a man who is unscrupulous, and who, once informed of dishonest information against his opponent, refused to say he disagreed with that information. My sister should have just posted it on her personal account instead of her political account...but she refused to do that. She has since tried to make it right. But, the damage had been done. Still, so far the other candidate has gotten enough votes to force the one backed by my sister to withdraw from the one position and to keep the other he holds in public office. That was a good move, and I can respect him for being quick to do so instead of trying to drag it out.
  15. Ah...I'm so glad to see someone revived the thread! LOL LuAnne, you so funny. (said in Southern dialect!... ? )
  16. It is our responsibility as Christians to vote...even if it is for the "lesser of two evils." The one who is closest to the Biblical and conservative standards should be the person we vote for to be the head of our country. To throw away that which others have fought and died for is foolish. As far as guns go, I am a gun owner, and I support owning a gun. Responsible gun owners need to have protection fot themselves and their families. Morales, you seem to have some left leaning ideology...at least in my opinion.
  17. Well, this evening we're having pizza (frozen) from the grocery store. Don't remember the brand off hand. I had my injection in my left ear today (one more to go, and then a follow-up three weeks later) and then we went to Kroger. Since it took so long at the doctors office and the grocery run, we decided it would be best just to "eat light." LOL Smells good, though...Brick oven, 3 meat and extra cheese pizza! We've still got to give all 3 dogs a with flea shampoo before 8 PM. 1:45 AM comes pretty quick when one stays up too late! ? Gonna have a small bowl of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
  18. I'm sorry, but to be honest about the situation, all politicians, are dishonest to some degree, even if they try their best not to be. I have many relatives in politics, including a sister, and though she is saved, and a strong Christian, there have been times when she's been unintentionally dishonest because she didn't know the whole story and took one side over the other. It's happened in the election for mayor in the town I grew up in . Mike Pence, I believe, is a good man. But, I believe that to some degree he did wrong by promoting the Trump lines during the Trump Administrations tenure. Intentional or not, it wasn't good. In this country we work on a voting system for selecting our representatives and leadership in government. Unless there is a law against a person leaving office, then running again, I'm pretty sure it will continue.
  19. Evangelizing is quite different from being a pastor. I know many women go to the missionfield and present the gospel and disciple people. This isn't the same as being a bishop/pastor. I've known several who went to the Congo, Central African Republic, Kenya, and other nations in Africa, S. America, etc., and have led many to the Lord, discipled them, and then had member of the community who has been learning the doctrines of the Bible take full lead. It may not be the best situation, but there is some Biblical precedent where a woman has had to take the lead. I don't particularly like those situations, but, they do happen.
  20. Women as pastors is Biblically unacceptable. I Timothy 3:2-6 gives the requirements for a "bishop," "pastor" or "overseer." I Timothy 2 talks about the womans role in the church. Yet, I do know that in some Baptist churches, in pretty much every sect of Baptists, that a woman is allowed to speak under the guidance of the shepherd. I'm not so sure I agree with this point of view in light of the passages given.
  21. I've had several people give me cd's and cassettes of preachers asking me what I think of their preaching. Some of those that were given to me over the past five years? Greg Locke, Evangelist Tim Lee, Dr. Mike Norris (he used to be my pastor years ago), Pastor Rick Rule (NJ), Dr. Robert Griffin, and many others. I have several friends and former college classmates that I listen to when I'm online looking for information...Pastor Larry Simon (Bible Baptist Church of Pana, IL), Pastor John Worsham from Manito, IL, and the pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Shelbyville, IL.
  22. Johnsons reputation was considered good at one time. Over T. May, he seemed to be the "more conservative choice." After she had basically been ousted by her party, he was the obvious successor to most. After he became PM, he was embroiled in several scandals of his own making, and this helped him to lose the confidence of those in the House of Commons and in his own party. Most, from what I understand, will resign when they've lost the confidence of their own party. The elections and political process in the UK is a bit different than it is here.
  23. In all the IFB churches I've been a member or. KJVO churches...yes. And in all of the churches who fellowship with the SBC that my wife and I have been members of...and believe me, none of them have been liberal. Don't appreciate that insinuation.
  24. Well, things change...and quite quickly, too! We went to check out a possible mate for Bailey yesterday in Tullahoma, TN. We thought we'd be back in time to have the steak and potatoes, but we visited with the breeders. We fell in love with a 10 week old Chocolate lab and a 10 week old black lab puppy. The breeders said that they were going to cut off a couple of hundres dollars if we wanted to get two. So, we did! We got them both. They were so small compared to Bailey at that age. The chocolate female we named Hailey Sue Lanius, and the black lab we named Pepper Anne Lanius. Both are so small, but very beautiful puppies. So, when we got back home, after spending time with these wonderful pups, we had a bologa and cheese sandwich and chips. We finished up the last of he vanilla ice cream with some hot fudge on it. Since it was 98 degrees yesterday, we needed something cold! ? Tonight we'll be having baked chicken breasts, green beans, rice and gravy, and homemaid biscuits! YUM!
  25. I won't use it again since it's been pointed out as offensive. Thanks for the heads up.
