The Book of Revelation & The Verb "Signified"
BrotherTony replied to Pastor Scott Markle's topic in End Times/Bible Prophecy
I'm sorry but if I wanted to read your book I would do so. All of your posts seem like a braggarts way of posting, and I have to say, speaking for myself alone, I don't appreciate your posts. It seems you're here to promote your book, and that is all. Besides that, I find many of your conclusions problematic in that you're posting your opinions as facts. No interpretation of scripture is private. That's why we're told to study it for ourselves. We're also told that the Holy Spirit, not your book will lead us to the truth. -
Nearly every church I've ever been a member of is now on YouTube. Only one wasn't and isn't. I was asked to put a few sermons on YouTube, but to date haven't been able to do so. There are many of my friends who are pastors who put a service on every week. I enjoy listening to them and keeping track of their ministries this way. For me, being disabled and not always able to be in services, I am thankful that our pastor puts them on YouTube.

Isn't that passage directed at Christians in the book of Revelation?

What is the color of your church building
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Church Related Discussions
Ours is brick. -
Sorry, but I don't seem to find that in my Bible.

I wouldn't necessarily call this an "abduction." It was expected, but the bride was never sure when it was going to happen. It was a common occurrence in Hebrew society.

Loosing a Love one Death in the Family
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Relationships/Family
I know that my family has lost many members since 2000....My dad died on June 21, 2000 of cancer...he was saved; my mother-in-law died on July 4, 2005 of cancer....she was saved....My wife's Aunt Brenda passed away on July 5, 2006....she said she was saved, but there was little proof of this. We were told she was in a better place, but we had a hard time believing this.....My little sister passed away on June 4, 2019 from cancer....she was saved and lived a life of service to others, opening an alternative homeschool to help troubled children...we heard that she was in no more pain and walking the streets of Heaven. This we could believe. She served the Lord for many years and was a wonderful Christian lady. We lost my wife's older sister on November 27, 2022...she died of a heart attack. She believed she was a Christian because she had been baptized, and many years later had joined the Catholic church...no funeral was performed...she was cremated. The friends of the family told all of us she was in a better place....because of her lifestyle, my wife had to ask to open the door to witnessing to these people...."is Hell a better place?" We sincerely doubt my sister-in-law was saved...nor was her ex-husband who died just 30 days before she did. It's easy for people to say, "Oh he/she's an angel looking down on us" or "they're in a much better place" when they don't understand/believe/follow the Bible and don't have salvation. It's a sad fact that our society believes these things without question. It shows a lack of the church in preaching the truth of the Word of God to the people. Seems we're hiding our light. -
I have never seen these. We used tracts, but nothing like this. Thanks for posting this. We usually used something like God's Simple Plan of Salvation. We used others, but not these.

The church I grew up in had something similar to the cards you're speaking of. We always respected their decision if they asked not to be contacted.
-
Most I was in contact with over the years never used the WWJD stuff. Very few even mentioned it, and they were the liberal Christian types. I'm not saying they all were, but there were definitely that type pushing it where I was raised. Now the color thing I've NEVER heard of. Who used that?

Competition between independent Baptist preachers
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
Many of the IFB churches in the Peoria, Illinois area fellowship together..Faith Baptist in Pekin...Averyville Baptist in E. Peoria, Bayview Baptist in Washington, and El Vista in Peoria Illinois are just four of them. -
Competition between independent Baptist preachers
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in General Chats
I know of many pastors, IFB, SBC, GARBC, et al, that fellowship with other pastors, or even "crossing the lines" to fellowship with IFB if they're SBC, or fellowshipping with SBC if they're IFB...or even landmarkers (usually Missionary Baptists) who fellowship with those in the SBC, GARBC, or the IFB churches. Since all of these Baptist churches are independent, autonomous bodies, they're free to fellowship with whomever they chose...or not. No sin either way. I know our church doesn't hold to Calvinistic positions, yet we fellowship with two churches that are....We've realized that salvation is in our faith in Christ alone, and his shed blood alone for the forgiveness of sins, his burial, resurrection for our victory over death, and his ascension for our promise of a home in heaven being prepared. People need to learn how to get along and stop accentuating their differences, especially if it is a tertiary issue that doesn't affect our salvation. -
We had 40+ people for our Sunrise service today. We had several more for breakfast before Sunday School. Thankful for that.??

Your opinion, and you're welcome to it.

Baptism has nothing to do with becoming member of the local church. It has to do with the command by Christ to be baptized, and shows that one is following Christ. Yes, many who are baptized do join the church they've been baptized in, but that's not the case for all.
-
I seldom find this to be the case.

Are people still getting Saved and Baptized at your church?
BrotherTony replied to TheGloryLand's topic in Soulwinning Forum
Our church has had 11 baptisms since December. -
Sorry, but I don't see how Trump and DeSantis could possibly work together. There's no love lost between them. I just don't see this happening.
-
I agree that he's a danger to some degree to America. But, Biden is far worse a threat. You say that Trump is a 'perfect example of the Antichrist." Care to prove that? Your saying so doesn't make it so. PROOF.
-
The persecution through prosecution against Trump has been going on a long time now. He's not helped matters any with his bloviating and incendiary rhetoric. This seems to be a modus operandi that he's well versed in. He's a very divisive individual and is doing more harm than good to America and the Republican Party. But, because of this recent lackluster indictment, if he wins the nomination, I will be voting for him. I otherwise would not be.

Nashville School Shooting: 6 Dead, Suspect Killed

I've mentioned where I live often enough. But, I forget that you are a Canadian.? -
Nashville School Shooting: 6 Dead, Suspect Killed
BrotherTony commented on Pastor Matt's news in Church
Reports on this assumption don't all agree. There are varying timelines. Remember, I live right here in the area, and I get a LOT of the information. I also know one of the reporters from NBC's affiliate here. I don't think anyone knows the exact time she "transitioned." Plus, the MSM is making the shooter the "victim" in many of their reports, mocking prayer and Christianity. This is unacceptable on their part. -

Calvinism is an incorrect understanding of soteriology
BrotherTony replied to Donut_brand_donuts's topic in Salvation Forum
I'm not fond of the soteriology these people hold to, as it's divisive at every turn. All only means all when it fits their agenda, and they consistently misrepresent what those who hold to a free will position believe. They love the term "straw man" but hate when it's applied to their pet doctrine. They seldom discuss any other doctrines of the Bible, and that's a shame.
