  1. How so?
  2. Because in American and Canadian churches they usually use the platform for "alter" calls. Again...semantics.....UGH!
  3. An all-black version of "The View?"
  4. I, too, was shocked that many of the churches that fellowship as SBC went to the CSB after such a short time with the HCSB. I'm not a fan of the HCSB, but, our church used it for several years until the new "revisionist" CSB made its way into view. Our pastor started using it and sees no potential problems with it. I disagree. It's heading towards being an "all-inclusive" sort of language inside. We don't use it ourselves...we still take our KJV to services.
  5. We had a set like that. Of course, I'm probably a bit older than you, and I listened to it with my much younger siblings.
  6. Semantics, Invicta...Semantics.
  7. No thanks. I have no interest in what Greg Locke is pushing.
  8. When I was speaking of her doing an excellent job, it wasn't in relation to doctrine....that is self-evident to those who don't jump into the fray without reading the whole post or thread. She DOES do an excellent job at what she does concerning knowing how to lead the choir. Enough said.
  9. My mom used to tell my little brother to "use his head" when he was acting stupid. So, one day when he was seven years old, he was trying to hang a towel up on the stove, and it kept falling...to which my mother said, "Michael, use your head!" So, he picked up the towel, put it on his head and tried to hang it up that way! Believe it or not, it worked! ?
  10. I agree, @PastorMatt! I have tested ChatGPT...and I have to say, I don't really want to use it at all! LOL
  11. Some of the members thought that though there will be a Bible study around this, it wasn't appropriate for a regularly scheduled church service...Bible studies among willing participants on the subject are another matter as long as it's not a service time. So, he is trying to get it set up as a study. Though I really like our church, our people, and the pastor's sermons, I would be far happier if he were using the KJV instead of the CSB. I would be more comfortable with hymns instead of CCM, and I would be a lot more at ease with the doctrine in some of those hymns over the "Jesus is my boyfriend" type ideology in CCM. Plus, some of the ideology in some of the CCM (Reckless Love of God?????.....Really????) is humanistic and antiscriptural. Nothing God does is reckless. This is ideology being perpetrated on the church by the pastor's wife who is our "worship" leader and choir director. Don't get me wrong, she's a wonderful woman who loves the Lord...but that doesn't excuse bad theology in any way, or the nepotism in the church, or the world creeping in and moving us further left like the proposed series mentioned.
  12. Nine years? Where does that come from????
  13. Side note here and question...the way you've worded this about salvation makes it seem like you hold a belief in Calvinism. Is this the case?
  14. I can't delete you, TGL...In fact, I've not even blocked you...So, why would I if I could?
  15. Thankfully, our pastor has decided to do these things at a time other than the midweek service. I'm thankful for that!
  16. TGL...would you like to "proof-read" your posts before you post them? I will if you want. ?
  17. My biological father used to be a Pentecostal evangelist before he and my mother divorced in 1963. My great uncle was an "Old Methodist" preacher/evangelist, and I have several cousins who are either Pentecostal, Methodist, Lutheran, or Non-denom preachers or evangelists. I am a lay preacher, but, I was never influenced by any of them to head in that direction. In fact, that was the last thing I ever wanted to be. I've pastored, been a youth pastor, and even a music leader. I have many friends who had pastors as parents (their parents were my friends as well) who are pastors, evangelists, college professors, missionaries, and the like. I've never known any of these to try and influence their kids to go into the ministry. One of these some of you might know....Phil Tharp who used to be the President of Midwestern Theological Seminary in Pontiac, MI. All of his sons are pastors if I recall correctly....Darren, Eric, and Rusty. I'm 100% positive their calls and mine were of the Lord.
  18. Two sad things here...that you "agreed" with your own post, and number two, that you seem to be always on the negative. It's not uplifting, it's not helpful, and it's not necessary. Most here already know about the negative things of this world.
  19. I don't believe it was all done in silence. I believe God commanded it and BANG! It was done! That's the ONLY "Big Bang" I believe in!
  20. I agree. I don't have $2 for a cup of coffee either. We make ours at home. My brother and his wife in Riverside, FL pay over $5 each for a cup of coffee most mornings, and then several times a day. I don't see how. Now, as to the panhandler, my wife and I would offer to buy him a cup of coffee from Mcdonald's or Burger King, but, there's NO WAY I would put money into his hand if I witnessed what you say you did.
  21. The Chosen is a series...I don't know how many seasons, as we watched the first three in a couple of sittings so that we could give an honest opinion to friends who were asking about it. I'm not in favor of showing it in the midweek services, or at any other time in the church. I don't believe it belongs there.
  22. This evening we'll probably be having pizza. I've got my first chemical stress test today...at least the first this time around...I've got another tomorrow. UGH! So, we won't have time to cook.
  23. While my wife and I were members of a BMA church in Illinois this happened, to some degree or another. The sad part was that the pastor actually spoke about why his salary should be raised. Several of the members were members of his extended family, and, of course, they knew he was going to be getting the raise. They comprised most of the church. I'm really sorry that you as a member had to experience this. This was one of the several reasons my wife and I left this church. It ISN'T the norm for churches, however. This happens in very few churches.
  24. Did you mean "whether?" Yes, Christians do judge others, but those who are truly concerned judge righteous judgment and know the difference between rabble-rousing and just trying to be controversial.
  25. To be frank...please don't flatter yourself by comparing yourself to John the Baptist. I'm very relaxed. To continuously be negative about the churches, pastors, and members is rabble-rousing, not assisting in God's work.
