My father-in-law that recently died told me this about an elder sister of his.

Her husband had abandoned her many years ago, she attended nursing school and worked as a nurse. She had a sister who had died at an early age whose husband had remained unmarried. Once in a while after she got older she would invited him over to eat once in a while for Sunday dinner.

This one time she had made an apple pie, but yet he had made no comment on it. She politely asked how the pie was, he replied, "I've had better." I don't suppose as he walked out of her house that day that he knew that Aunt Avery would never invited him back for a Sunday dinner again.

A few years after Coy had told me about this a friend or ours had made a coconut cake for us. Both Linda's mother and father were here and ate a piece of it. I thought about the story of Coy's sister and asked Coy, "What do you think of the cake?" Coy replied, "I'm not going to fall for that one, I like my cake."
