I just recently got a cute bird bath and my husband put up a bird feeder ( I won it in a contest ) and we also planted some flowers near the bird bath .Anyway I have been having fun watching the birds take a bath and the diffrent birds that come to the feeder.
So far a Blue Jay a Cardinal ,a whole lot of Mocking Birds and just today a beautiful one which I have no clue what he is .
I really like it and am going to try and figure out all the bird names .Anyone else like this?

Hi Lori,

Mom is definitely like this and I am too somewhat. Where we just moved we have seen so far a woodpecker, 2 hawks, a bluebird and some common birds. I was excited when I saw the bluebird; I had heard that they used to be rare but are making a comeback. The woodpecker lives in a tree across from the house and since we live on a mountain, the hawks actually live up here. We have seen them up close. We are looking forward to finding out what else comes around.

Well not much of a bird watcher but I love watching Butterfies. In indianapolis the zoo always had a butterfly exhibit and me and the monsters would go through out the summer and watch them fly around. It was awesome.

I also love watching chipmunks and squirrels. However, the squirrels are ugly in NWI. They are gray and scrawny Not plumb and brown like the real tasty squirrels

A bird feeder in our yard turns into a cat feeder. Not a very good idea for us. (althought the cats love it).

Just bought a bird book and the one that I didn't know was
a red bellied woodpecker really pretty . I haven't seen many squirells here like I did in Wisconsin up there they were always in the bird food but so far I haven't seen one yet.

Cats have to eat too. I love watching birds. The Squrriels took down my last feeder, I need to replace it soon. Thanks for the reminder.

Like Jessica said, I love to watch the birds. I see many kinds where we live. The most unusual is a Pileated Woodpecker. They are as big as a crow. We have Flickers that like to sit on our metal fireplace chimney and drum on it. It sounds like a machine gun going off in the chimney. Every now and then I see a hawk or two or a buzzard or two. We used to hear owls at night years ago. I have been hearing a mockingbird this Spring, which is really neat. I have a squirrel-proof feeder which really does work. I could go on but I will stop. I like my squirrels too I just wish they would leave the feeder up for the birds

We have a big Red Tail Hawk that flys around our house (lots of fields and woods for him to find little mouses) . One of the places I like to fish has a Big Eagles nest, it is really col to see the Eagle come in and land in it's nest.

We, too, have abird-feeder and it is a constant delight to see the different birds as they come and go throughout the spring season. Every year about this time, a group of four or five goldfinches pass thru our area on their way north. they always fly in a group. We've found that by having the feeder up for several years brings in the "regulars". So far we have only juncos in the winter. But now that Spring is here we have our good friend the Red-bellied woodpecker, a host of house-finches, many mourning doves, cardinals, and many others. I would be pleased to know what you-all have found to be the best remedy for squirrels. They clean out the seed so fast, we can hardly keep it full for the birds.

I am so glad that I no longer have that problem .Though I am wondering if Florida even has squirrels.I was at the Tractor Supply store and the guys behind me were talking about the bob cats they had to deal with I thought yikes  I haven't seen one of those yet .I was at the state park and saw a alligator though he was little and kinda cute .

Today I saw my first ever Bald Eagle in PA.......and just a mile from my home. Took a drive to go look at the fall foliage and this eagle flew over top of my car and landed about 200 yards away. Watched him for nearly two hours, then decided to try and get closer, but scared him off instead. Quite a thrill, tho.
