We got snow today! The weatherman said a chance of flurries and then the flurries became light snow so they changed the forcast to chance of light snow! Most of it melted away, but it was pretty for awhile. Lots of accidents out on the road though.

I am working night shift so I was aware when it started snowing and by the time we got off the roads had a nice little covering and it wasn't forcasted so the roads were not prep for it so the short drive home from base was a slow exciting one.

When in the Air Force my favorite shift was swing. But I did work grave yard for more than 1 & 1/2 year. There was only 2 of us, I worked most of the time, my sgt. hid out taking naps.

The one thing I disliked about those 2 shifts was that any training classes I had to attend, were on my time, instead of the Air Forces time. That was the one advantage of day shift.

I did work day shift some, but there was always to many chiefs around, seemed they disappeared at about 3:00 PM not appearing again until after about 8:00 AM, unless and alert or something came along.

Our snow was just a few flakes, but it stayed cool all day, down to 30ยบ right now.

Jerry sounds like you are describing the Air Force today lol. I dislike swings because it interferes with so much stuff. I got moved into this shop and they seem pretty content not making me work it. Flight chief asked me what shift I don't like and I told him that about swings and he said he would work with that. In the 2 years I have been in this is the first time I have worked mids and I am struggling to adjust. I seem to sleep to long or not enough and am always tired. Its only week two tho so I will get used to it.

In some ways it seems the Air Force has not changed.

One more reason I like swing & graveyard shifts, I would eat breakfast 2 times daily, & that was my favorite meal while in the Air Force.

When I left Blytheville AFB for Anderson AFB September 1968, we were working 5 days per week, with weekend duty about ever 5 weeks. At Anderson we were working 7 12 hour days per week. The did help us a bit, they changed it to 7 12 hour days, one day off. At least them I had a day to catch up on my laundry, & take an extra nap.

When I got back to Blytheville AFB January 1969, working 6 days per week, one day off. During the 120 days I was gone TDY they had sent about half of our airmen working engine shop flight line to Southeast Asia. We still had the same number of planes flying the same number of missions.

I might add, I have read of the enjoyment others had while at Anderson AFB, but I expect they were not working 12 hour days that we TDY Airmen were.

I thought about reenlisting in May 69, & probably would have, the bonus was very good for us engine men, I only asked for a guarantee that they would not send me any place that my wife could not go for a 1 year period. They said NO! So I said NO too!

I had a sgt that liked to dodge work and take naps too. So long as I got the minimum needed to be done completed, he didn't care what I did either. I stayed busy because if I wasn't doing something it made the day too long.

From what I understand they are shredding my shop out to be B2 specific so I won't be going anywhere till I am a TSgt. Our TDY's aren't usually long and not overseas. But I plan on getting out after this six year stint.
