I'm the outside cook -- grills and smokers. Lots of hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, and chicken during the spring, summer, and fall. The Thanksgiving turkey is done in the smoker, with an apple jelly marinade with apple woodchips bringing on the flavor. (Maybe I need to do a test run soon to make sure I haven't forgotten  )

I do about 60 percent of the cooking at home. It is something I enjoy doing. My mom and my grandmother saw to it that I learned how to take care of myself. I got the cooking, cleaning, sewing, etc lessons from them and my dad saw to it that I got the Bible lessons along with the hunting, fishing, working, etc lessons.

I've been cooking since I was about 12.

I used to watch my little sister during the summers and I would cook breakfast and dinner for us.

When Mom was working second shift and Dad didn't get home until late I would cook supper for my Dad and sister too.

I cook some of the meals to this day; usually several per week. Also, if my wife isn't feeling well, I will do the cooking so she doesn't have to.

Don't tell rwilson, "he is a better cook than I am at least that's my opinion." I would not want him to get a bigger head that he already has. He just has one fault he likes to cook but not do the clean up is that the way you other men are? Just curious.

Ummm, Isn't the lady the keeper of the home? :hmm

I work 60 hours a week. Why should I have to clean up, after providing for my family?

Now, why do I feel that I will be doing this :bang: when I get home today?
Why do I suddenly have a feeling that something might happen when I get home? :box

ok you two...

I cook when I have the time. I do all the grilling and much of the baking. Recently work has been crazy andI could not tell you the last time I ate at home for dinner. It is miserable.

As to getting the hubby to cook, get him a grill. It is a very manly thing to have. Get one with a side burner and start having stuff done on the side. It may just work to get him interested.

Do any fo you men have any suggestions on how to get the hubby interested in cooking  He loves to eat! :ha

I wouldn't necessarily suggest doing this to get your husband to cook, but . . .

This is how I got started cooking in the home: When my first child was born, my wife hemorrhaged badly and was too weak to stand for about a month. I took over doing the cooking when I got home from work. This was five years ago, and I still cook most nights when I get home from work.

My husband likes to bake cookies and he has and can make pizza, meatloaf, noodle dinners, fried potatoes, etc, and he knows how to use the microwave. If I am ever too sick to cook, we eat just fine. Laundry is a different story. CJP56
