Yes, however the phrase Mother of God, refers to her giving birth to God. Of course she is not literally older than God, or somehow created Him.

Show me one verse that teaches she gave birth to God.

Sure, no problem.

"So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God." (Luke 1:35)

I phrased my question wrong. I do believe Jesus is God.

Show me where it declares her the mother of God (ie. that His godhood was born of her). Jesus existed before His human body was born.

Sure. Yes Christ did exist before he Incarnated. We all know this because He has always existed because He was and is God. Since He God, was born of St. Mary, she is the Mother of God (i.e. she gave birth to God). St. Elizabeth says this about St. Mary.

"But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?" (Luke 1:43)

We know that in the Bible, the word Lord is only used for God. So St. Elizabeth is calling St. Mary the Mother of God.

Mary was Jesus' mother in the physical sense only.

And in the Bible, "woman" was the equivalent of saying "Ma'am". It was a term of respect. At the same time it was pointing out that she wasn't really His mother in the spiritual sense of the word.

I didn't say otherwise.

That's true as well.

Yes, you did - you keep trying to push your Catholic doctrine that she was the mother of God - she was the mother of His humanity, not His deity. She was a sinner in need of salvation, just as every other person on the face of this earth - except for the Lord Jesus Christ.

Luke 1:46-47 And Mary said, My soul doth magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.

Sinners need a Saviour.

:amen: That is so true, but it seems few of those who belong to the RCC will accept that Bible truth.

They want so much to make Mary into another mediator and or even a savior, even the Queen of Heaven, so they feel they have to build here up to be what the Bible doesn't teach.

The funny thing is this is the exact Catholic doctrine. You just don't like the words Mother of God.

Take that however you want, all St. Mary is saying is that her soul magnifies the Lord.

I really didn't join this forum to start an argument, I really just wanted to chat with other Christians. However If you want to get into this go ahead. The fact is the Bible doesn't have any of the Baptist doctrine in it. It has as much Baptist doctrine as it has JW doctrine (that was extreme, just kidding :bonk: )

I have a question, will you accept things that are in the Bible, but are not said like completely literally like: "This is how it is."

so they feel they have to build here up to be what the Bible doesn't teach.

I was hoping that I wouldn't have to argue with anyone. I guess I was wrong. I actually wanted to have well structured debates, I guess this isn't going to happen. If no one here wants me on the forum, and you can no longer enjoy it because of me, then I will leave. Ok? I really don't want to ruin your guys fun. I love debating thats why I'm here. If you want me gone, just say so.

PS. The Bible doesn't teach anything, humans do.

Exactly - and we are not Catholics! We do not believe Catholicism lines up with the Bible.

Take that however you want, all St. Mary is saying is that her soul magnifies the Lord.

Funny how you ignored the second part where she stated she needed a Saviour - therefore was a sinner. In Luke 2, she offered two turtle doves - which Leviticus 12 states was a "SIN offering".

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

That includes Mary - that includes the pope - that means everyone.

Yeah, right - nice try. The Bible teaches what God wants mankind to learn.

We are not saying you must leave - but if you can't leave your Catholicism behind and must debate it every change you can, you might as well move on - because eventually you would be barred anyway.
