I learned something today.

Today I learned that its not considerate to joke about not wanting many kids in front of a mom who has several kids. When I start hearing people say "Oh no we can't have that many kids, we only want two." It makes me feel like I have some sort of bad life because I have four kids. Yeah its rough right now with all the boys and a newborn at times but to have people act like they NEVER want to go through what I have, that's kind of demeaning you know? Although I know they don't mean it that way.

When I start getting stuff like that, I generally say, "Oh, after the third it doesn't matter much anymore."

They blink at me like I'm nuts and change the subject.

Oh I dunno, I think so far the change from three to four has been much harder than the change from two to three....

I've been guilty of saying "Oh man I could NEVER do all those kids" and so now I've learned the hard way how it feels to be the one with "all those kids" haha (which around here, four is alot!)

We have four and our youngest is nine. We never tried to not have any more kids, we just let God decide. My wife wanted four, I wanted 12. Seems God agreed with her, but not until after putting her in contact with so many other large families that she's now a bit sad we haven't had more. Ironic since there were four kids in my family and 11 kids in my wife's. We even tried to adopt, but it's too expensive. I envy families with lots of kids. I understand what an honor it is to have a full quiver.
