Members Invicta
When we were young children used to make a Guy, as in the picture and ask people for a "Penny for the Guy" to buy fireworks with. They then burnt the Guy on their bonfire on November 5th. Most towns and villages will have at least one firework party on Nov 5th. In the small Sussex town of Lewes, they have several bonfire societies and a large fire in the town. In recent years they were expecting so many visitors that last year the Police asked people from outside the town to stay away. Apart from an effigy of Guy Fawkes they usually burn an effigy of a famous person. There was an uproar in the press a few years ago when they burnt the Pope. I think at least on US president has suffered and Tony Blair also. The plot was when Catholics attempted to blow up King James 1st and all of the English government. Had they succeeded we wouldn't have the KJB. http://www.lewesbonfirecelebrations.com/ Edited November 4, 2015 by Invicta Alan

P.S. you should post pics!

It is our former foster son's birthday. Every year he gets fed up with people asking if his name is Guy.
