To what? Firefox and Opera already has settings to disable any tracking of web sites. Even Safari has settings to remove the history daily. IE8 simply makes it slightly easier.

To Firefox. I didn't know about their tracking, but I am stilling thinking of switches just because.

Jerry I just know that in two months' time, I have had two close friends become devestated by the results of porn. Maybe this "porn mode" isn't just for porn, but if it helps people become addicted to porn, its bad enough for me.

I still fail to see why family computers would have to be private. I fail to see why anyone would have to hide their surfing from somebody else unless they have some sort of reason to hide it. If you are at the job, your surfing should be honest. At home, your surfing should be honest. At the library, nobody knows who you are and it doesn't matter where you've been.

I understand the marketing. But I feel that if anyone has a temptation with porn, they should not download this new IE.

sometimes I look up female issues to see if my body is normal. And I come across some porns because of that. I do not want people to know what kind of female problems I have (don't worry, it has nothing to do with STD or Aids but I am sure some females have those type of concerns)

I just downloaded IE8 Beta2 (Been using Beta1 for a few months now) and here is what the InPrivate says when you turn it on.

InPrivate Browsing prevents Internet Explorer from storing data about your browsing session. This includes cookies, temporary Internet files, history, and other data.

InPrivate Blocking helps prevent the websites you go to from automatically sharing details about your visit with other websites. To help protect your privacy, some website content might be blocked.

To turn off InPrivate, close this browser window.

Sidenote: A few things in OB need fixing for IE8.

Well, that settles it. Those deceitful Microsoft designers have gone and done it. They are trying to protect people's privacy so other's can't steal their identity, financial information and porn trail. It says it right there, see................... :hide

And I thought you used Opera.

Me? I use all 4 major browsers. IE, FF, Opera and Safari. I use all of them on the following 3 platforms: XP, Vista and Linux.

A thought just came to me. I wonder if this is Microsoft's way of "punishing" Google for not allowing it to take it over?

CNN, "Privacy is at the heart of the new Microsoft browser, but it might eat into Google's lunch. CNN's Jim Boulden reports." Apparently Google wouldn't be able to force you to see those ads, which will cut into their ad sales big time!

I'd say wait till a release candidate or final release. IE8b2 has some bugs (which IE8b1 didn't have) that make some correct stuff look very wrong. I think they will fix it before final release though. Other than those bugs, I have to say that IE8 renders quite well compared to older versions.

Hmm, well, InPrivate mode also blocks cookies and stuff, so it makes it impossible to log in on some websites. I don't think InPrivate mode will be used very often by people, so Google won't suffer a lot.

Google Chrome has a similar feature to the one in IE8 Beta 2. It is called "Incognito". :lol

You've gone incognito. Pages you view in this window won't appear in your browser history or search history, and they won't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer after you close the incognito window. Any files you download or bookmarks you create will be preserved, however.

Going incognito doesn't affect the behavior of other people, servers, or software. Be wary of:
Websites that collect or share information about you
Internet service providers or employers that track the pages you visit
Malicious software that tracks your keystrokes in exchange for free smileys
Surveillance by secret agents
People standing behind you

I like the last one. Or better yet, Don't forget to look up. :thumb

No need to erase the history on your computer unless you are having problems with the browser. Depending on what browser you are using depends on howto do it.
