Oh I never said the government couldn't do it. The government does all kinds of things that the people approve of. That doesn't make it right.

Its right if its the will of the majority of citizens.

Whoa, I really didn't see that coming. Do you realize the implications of such a statement? If the majority of people vote to legalize homosexual marriage, is it right? If the majority of people support abortion, does that make it right? :-S

Yes, I realize that quite well. I've been in situation where I did not go along with the majority, but I accepted it, for instant in elections.

In our state of Arkansas, I'm sure yours is the same way, if the majority of voters vote for a person for an office, that person has that office until another election comes up and the person who did not get enough votes loses.

Another example, our county is dry, the reason being it has been voted on several times and the majority of our citizens voted against selling alcohol in our country, so its dry.

And its very clear, the majority of Americans are not Christians. Of course with what the Bible tells me I don't expect the Christians to be the majority in this country.

It would probably be more accurate to say you have never knowingly eaten them. I would bet most people have unknowingly eaten all kinds of things through out their lives. It was served it was good and you never new the difference.

 So very true, Cowboy! One just never really knows? :eek

This statement should say it all folks!

Kevin, I just think about it like this. "what we need and what we want are two separate issues"? I think this applies here.

Something I thought of today, is that when we that order chinese food eat does one do with the "fortune cookie." Well, I use to read them and think nothing of it, laugh it off. Then I got to thinking that reading it for kicks could still be wrong because it endorses fortune telling, gambling, and horescopes. So now everytime I order, I still get one because it comes with the delivery, but for me I don't try to see what it says, I don't open it, I crush them everytime almost. People knows I don't eat them so they take them. Honestly I really probably should'nt .

usually those fortune cookies have chinese proverbs.

Yeah, But the belief behind it is the "Fortune". To someone like me that has a totally different meaning. The Chinese also have there own Astrological Charts. Sorcery and fortune telling is stictly forbidden in the bible, in a number of places. The same written chinese history will tell you that in China these guys also saw the star the maggi's saw in the sky, mentioned in the Gospels. I take this subject kind of personal for good reason. Chinese Proverbs are a counterfeit of Satan himself. The Girl in Acts (unquote) Went trought the streets yelling here are the men that preache the word of the Lord and aggravated Paul so much that he turned around and rebuked the evil spirit. What she said was true, but she was invoked by an evil spirit. Nowadays you see in the magazine racks at your grocery store "Palmistry for Idiots." Fortune telling by use of you hands. A proverb is a wise saying. Theres nothing wise about all that.

I never liked the taste of those "fortune cookies". I just leave them, or give them away. hehe.

Yes, Deafnva77...those cookies have Chinese Proverbs in them. However, if you ever get a chance to read any of those Chinese Proverbs. Where are they taken from? Yes, the Holy Bible. The Chinese people have just distorted them, so they read much different. It's kind of interesting. I used to read those type of Proverbial books (Chinese)...and, they are so close to our Proverbs in the KJV. Aaah, these people are really seeking. In fact, they may say that China is a country that is Atheist....but, the Chinese people are quite interested in the Word of God.

These people are just afraid of the Communist nation of China (remember, Red Square)? The Communists rule with an "Iron Fist". Actually, their is a neat little place over there...where it shows a doorway into kinda like a "mystical world". They like to refer to the place as magical. However, these people "try" so hard to connect with a "higher being." They want to believe in God...and, are in fear of persecution. The Chinese people need the Word of God...as EVERYONE...has a soul. :pray for Katie and her family... her new infant and all. I pray that they have settled into their apartment and will get adjusted soon to China, again.

Yes...Truthseeking, that is where the distortion comes into play. And, it is so sad, b/c Satan has used that to confuse (per usual) the people into thinking that they are truthful. Originally, they weren't all that distorted. Through the years...though, they are occult in nature. The OT book of Deuteronomy warns on all of this...it is witchcraft. Those charts and signs are all voodoo. However, it is so sad...b/c that is all they have to go one...no Bible to speak to their hearts. Thank the Lord for our missionaries in the country of China.

Oh, and I can't remember what book the RCC Bible has in it...that uses these Proverbs. They have the Book of Wisdom...then, they have some book that talks about the Proverbs (Chinese in nature). Does anyone know what I am referring, too?

@ Jerry: How people vote still doesn't make something wrong or right, though. You said that if people voted for it, it was right. We can't expect them to act like Christians but the choices they make, whether it's by the majority or not, doesn't make it right.

I like the proverbs in the fortune cookies. I keep them sometimes because they are encouraging. :lol

Didn't Chinese fortune cookies develop in America?

Hey, salyan. That is a good question. Now, that is highly possibly? I would love to know the answer on that one. It would be unfortunate, if the USA came up with that one, too. Aaah, the "Great Melting Pot".

God blesses the USA. :Bible:
