Anyone here severely affected by Ike throughout the midwest? My sister is in Chicagoland and said they just got water in their basement but not bad...but that so many roads are still closed due to flooding that its hard to get up to Northwest Indiana to do some of her errands, and had to cancel one thing.

I know Texas got it worst and deserves most of the media coverage but I'm surprised the midwest got so little coverage.

Our yard was a lake. We were very relieved that it didn't reach our foundation, as the house is very old and might not be able to stand against it.

The highways are finally opened up again here. We've lived here in NWI since 1989 and this is the worse we've ever seen it. BTW - there was actually more rainfall here than in TX (12 inches recorded, with people saying they measured 18!)! With hurricanes, a lot of times the water that is a problem in the hurrican site is ocean water rather than rain. I am thankful, though, that all we got was a lot of rain. It could have been so much worse. South of us, near Indianapolis, they got no rain but a lot of wind.

There were people with a lot of damage, but I am thankful it wasn't near the damage as TX had!!

A friend of mine said that the highway 80/94 was closed in Gary for days because of flooding. That's a major major truck thoroughfare! I can't imagine the chaos that must have caused.

I feel for all yall that are affected by these floods and storms. Here in Eastern Oregon the worst we get is 3 or 4 feet of snow, which causes no problems. Used to love to patrol in blizzards. Things sure seem to be intensifying as the day approaches. :lol

God Bless you all dealing with these issues.

I live in north central Missouri and for the second time this year we had several roads and highways closed. Usually only for a day or two but I know of a couple of roads that only just recently reopened. Needless to say, there have been lots of prayers fo our farmers!

My prayers go out to ALL of you in those areas. :pray Ohio (as you know) has gotten a lot of rain, lately. We had that storm 2 weekends ago...that was a little bit of the Ike aftermath. Some are still w/o power up here in a few areas. I feel blessed to live near Lake Erie and the fresh water, though. Hang in there...folks. :thumb
