I keep Bibles and devotionals scattered around the house so no matter where I'm at, there is always something within sight to help me maintain my focus and something within reach to help me grow.

I really like the idea of writing out the Bible.  I have a pastor friend who had a lady in his congregation who developed insomnia.  She tried reading the Bible when she couldn't sleep but it didn't seem to help.  My friend recommended she try copying out the Bible.  She started that, and it helped her a great deal.  She went through the entire Bible and then decided that she would do it again, and again, until she had a copy of the Bible in her own handwriting for each of her grandchildren.  Those will be precious treasures to be passed down from generation to generation.

Hubby was in the Marines and for PT they had what they called their "Daily Seven."  It was seven exercises they did every day.  Because of his military experience we relate a lot to the concept of Spiritual warfare, and to stay fit as Christians we need to be spiritually exercising every day (praying and reading the Word).  I came up with a Daily Seven -- seven questions I use to go through each passage I read:

1.  Is there a warning in this passage?

2.  Is there a command in this passage?

3.  Is there a promise in this passage?

4.  Is there an instruction in this passage?

5.  Is there a truth about God/Jesus/Holy Spirit in this passage?

6.  Is there a verse that stands out to me in this passage?

7.  What one thing I saw in this passage today can I share with at least one other person?

Invicta I hope the water didn't ruin your computer...

It is not working at present. I will have to contact Toshiba when I get home. I took out an extended guarantee, last year when my hard disk ran out and I think it may inclde accidental damages. If ot it should be covered by my house insurance, but they have a hefty excess charge.

It's amazing how much great stuff is in all those pages of the Bible that so often get passed over.

It's like the book of Psalms. I had read several of them before but until I read all of them I had no idea what great beauty, depth and treasure was there.

In our church, we read a Psalm each week, read by a different person. We have been through it once, and once through Proverbs, and have started Psalms again. Gets people a little more engaged. Either myself or my wife will read the longer Psalms, due to reading ability, (though I recently discovered a man who is an excellent reader who only read for his first time recently), and I read Ps. 119, and use it for a lesson.
