True witches can indeed put "curses" on people...because the devil can possess and oppress people, and the witch simply sends the devil to do her bidding. However this may or may not be wise to discuss with a lost person. One thing we learned from a soulwinning class is to gently set aside the questions...say...."When I finish telling you about [salvation], it should answer your questions about [witchcraft, etc]." Proceed to give him the plan of salvation. Then you could even bring into it about wrestling not against flesh and blood...and putting on the armor of God...and showing the gravity of the "other world"...maybe use this to bring him to Christ. Members John81 Posted September 29, 2008 Members Posted September 29, 2008 Like Suzy mentioned, if a person practicing witchcraft has opened themselves up to the influence of the devil they can appear to be able to cast spells and such. However, a person can't just pick up a witchcraft book and cast a spell on their own; things just don't work that way. God has a set order of how things work and us being able to do magic or cast spells are not in that realm. Is she wanting to cast spells or is she worried about someone else casting spells her way? If she's worried about others casting spells against her you could point out to her that a saved person is protected by God, they are sealed with the Holy Ghost who indwells them. Praying to the Father for protection from those wishing her harm is far more powerful than any "spell" a witch could attempt to cast. If she's considering getting into witchcraft yet proclaims to be saved, be sure to show her the verses which condemn witchcraft as a great sin, deserving of the death penalty. It would also be a good idea to go over the plan of salvation to make sure she really knows whether or not she is saved. Quote

Ok this is strange, but I'm gonna state they are strange, ok heres the story, she has been speaking to my wife, we have got there kids going to church with us there oldest son got saved, ok so at least we are making headway right, this ladies husband had an affair with this other woman several years ago, he thinks she has put a curse on him, and I guess some bad things have happened to him lately, (My wife has been speaking to her about salvation, states she is, but can't get a real straight answer from her), anyhow the guy is one of those that just won't talk with you, and she has been in more religions than I even realized there was(exageration), so he is telling her that they are cursed, and there kids will be cursed for the next generation. If you can make heads or tells out of that yourbetter than I am cause I feel like I'm rambling. Quote

Well said, Suzy. :smile I actually do think, though, that the lost need to beware as long as Ray can use scriptures. In the OT we have Deuteronomy 18:10-12. Does anyone know where the NT scriptures are for Ray? Quote
Members Anon Posted September 30, 2008 Members Posted September 30, 2008 I would just continue to say that if they would get saved that it would take care of the problem for the most part....after they are for sure saved, you can talk more about how the devil will fight them and stuff but right now they will not have the wisdom to understand these things. Members deafnva77 Posted September 30, 2008 Members Posted September 30, 2008 I have done witchcraft for fun when I was in school. Found a book in my public library, thought I could make someone fall in love with me with it. my opinion of witchcraft is that it does not cast spells, as creepy as it is such as voodoo dolls, It is just made up stuffs. but our enemy can make it seem like it is working. He'll do anything to keep people away from Christ-- but whatever works for him. So a person will think, "hey I think this stuff is working" and keep using it when it really doesn't work (if it does, it would be the matter of science) -- Satan is the author of confusion Witchcraft is really a greedy and selfish religion in my opinion. especially using it as an revenge, it just mean you have evil thoughts (seriously, who find comforting in voodoo dolls of themselves with needles all over it done by someone who think horrible about you ??) . It all about yourself, hoping that you can form some kind of power using what you have around you (nature). Instead of relying on the Lord, you rely on yourself, putting yourself above the Lord actually. But it is the same as other false religion though, where people falsely worship something that doesn't even exist, just hoping it does. Quote
Guest Guest Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Satan is the author of confusion Yes, Angie. =) I was praying about this last night. I read a book a while ago that the Reverend Billy Graham wrote in the 1970's. The scriptures are ALL KJVO. It was called Angels Angels: God's Secret Agents. Anyone can do a google on it. This book was written when the occult in this nation was in full bloom. Billy Graham uses this book to show how the Devil will attack the truth...and, what the truth is according to scriptures. He explains angels and Jesus Christ, and salvation. Is anyone else familiar with this book? Quote

People all over the world believe that bad things happen because people are cursed. We in this country don't see a lot of it because of the way our country was founded. But!!! Witchcraft and its compatriots are making their way into the warp and woof of our country, so we will all be seeing more and more of it, unfortunately!!! TV and books are spreading it quickly!! That said - there is one shocking thing that you could say to her. You could tell her she's right - that he is under a curse. The curse of sin...be sure you have the verses that use those words and you could really witness to her using her own terminology!! And it might just resonate with him enough to be able to speak with him! Quote

The people in Salem Witchhunt gave satan an inch (by focusing too much on witches and less on God's Love), and he took a mile.. and now alot of people got killed because they focused too much on evil. Members Anon Posted September 30, 2008 Members Posted September 30, 2008 Both posts are great...love the "under a curse" HC! Also very good point, about not giving Satan undue attention, which is why I was kind of saying to steer her away from too much talk about satanism... Quote

Which is exactly the draw for many people...getting power and riches, getting people who "dis" you outta the way... Satan sure knows how to appeal to humankind!! Quote

Too fearful with my experiences. My mother has fortunetly had numerous people witness to her about her ways and her involvement in ungodly things. She, however, continues to be un-responsive, hard headed, if you will. She does'nt realize the danger of what she's been into. Am I still concerned, Yes I am, is she saved, I don't think so. Fruit of the spirits (Galations 5) would be saying otherwise. My advice at this point which I'm sure you're doing already is prayer. Quote

Satan sure knows how to appeal to humankind!! If only one could find Jesus as appealing when He stands with our Salvation in open arms just waiting for us to recieve it. Many people should be on their knees crying out to Almighty God in repentence, but blinded by their own pride so they don't. Quote
