Pastor That Dress Right Preaches Right...

Same here. I got 1 suit a year (at easter) and I wore it every Sunday to the Catholic church. When I got saved, at 10, everyone at the Baptist church wore a suit. (70's)

Fast Forward - 2014: At the church I am attending, the pastor wears a suit, I wear a suit, my son wears a suit and 4 or 5 older men do. The rest are dressed in similar fashion to the man in the picture, just a few less holes.

Though I don't think a suit is required to worship God, it shows how casual our society has become. I took a leadership course a number of years ago (secular course). In the course they said that surveys prove that the better dressed you are, the more productive you are at work. It is why IBM used to require suits. I almost took a job with a big bank in NC. They also require the men to wear suits for the same reason. Sport coats were not allowed. I asked my potential manager how many suits he owned and he responded that he buys 7 suits every year. My friend got the job I was offered and he said that it is the best place to work. Everyone is very professional.

Casual attire has swept through and has watered down work places and our churches.

Just my two cents

I'm out of like already too. We should have unlimited likes. I also think we should have a "thumbs down" option too!

I don't think we really want to start the thumbs down option on a Christian site -- we get enough contention as it is.

Good point, Ofp.  There has been a lot of contention on OB today.

Society in general treats those who are dressed up with more respect.  An example is when I used to wear suits, I would get immediate and personal attention wherever I went but when showing up the next day in t-shirt, shorts and flip flops, I wasn't given the time of day.

Same car salesman friends of mine said that people who wore flip flops to buy a car were not really buyers, just lookers.  I tested that theory once and tried to buy a jeep after work every night for a week in my flip flops and shorts and t-shirt.  The following Monday I showed up in my work clothes and bought it.

We should wear our best clothes when we assemble together at our local churches to worship and honor the Lord.
