My church has a strong conviction against CCM and worldly music. We use our hymn book during worship service, so most of the Christian songs I know is only what is found on our hymn book. I am just wondering if there is such a thing as Christian love songs or all songs should only be for the Saviour. If there is, can you tell me the title or can you post the lyrics? Lastly, if you are married what was your wedding song?.. I'm just curious. God Bless you all.

This isn't a "Christian" song, but it is "our" song.

THE KEEPER OF THE STARS (Tracy Byrd)

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight

CHORUS:
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude

REPEAT CHORUS

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

Jeny Lyn,

These are some good questions. I remember wondering about the same thing. I guess it depends on what you mean by "Christian" songs...Are they "songs written about Christ," or "songs which express a Christian worldview," or "songs that are sung by Christians," or "songs which don't necessarily have 'Christian content,' but don't express anti-biblical ideas"?

The Bible contains an extensive love song: The Song of Solomon. Check out those lyrics...pretty, um, steamy! Of course, the steaminess is in its proper context: marriage.

So, no real answers for you...just thoughts.

A good friend of ours wrote our wedding song: "Savior, Lead Us." We also had "May the Lord Find Us Faithful" and "Lord, Let Us Serve."

Other songs (that weren't part of the ceremony) were "Today I'll Marry My Best Friend," and "All I Ask of You" and "Yours Forever."

He is now to be among you at the calling of your hearts
Rest assured this troubador is acting on His part.
The union of your spirits, here, has caused Him to remain
For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name
There is Love. There is Love.

Well a man shall leave his mother and a woman leave her home
And they shall travel on to where the two shall be as one.
As it was in the beginning is now and until the end
Woman draws her life from man and gives it back again.
And there is Love. There is Love.

Well then what's to be the reason for becoming man and wife?
Is it Love that brings you here or Love that brings you life?
Or if loving is the answer, then who's the giving for?
Do you believe in something that you've never seen before?
Oh there's Love, there is Love.

Oh the marriage of your spirits here has caused Him to remain
For whenever two or more of you are gathered in His name
There is Love. Oh there's Love.

Granted, it's not chock full of doctrine, but it's a pretty song.

The Lord has placed it on my heart to study The Song of Solomon. My hubby took the course at our church Bible Institute the second trimester of last year. :wink

My favorite love song growing up in the RCC. My older cousin Mary had it played at her wedding. She is musically gifted. She played in the Guitar Mass in my church.

Thanks for the replies. I like most of the songs you have mentioned especially "The Way You Look Tonight", I first loved it when I watched My Bestfriends Wedding a long time ago. But I also like to know if there is a love song that praises the saviour and at the same time talks about love between two people. God Bless...

My wife's sister sung "How Beautiful" while a friend of our signed it.

How Beautiful the hands that served
The Wine and the Bread and the sons of the earth
How beautiful the feet that walked
The long dusty road and the hill to the cross
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How Beautiful the heart that bled
That took all my sins and bore it instead
How beautiful the tender eyes
That choose to forgive and never despise
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

And as He lay down His life
We offer this sacrifice
That we will live just as He died
Willing to pay the price
Willing to pay the price

How Beautiful the radiant bride
Who waits for her Groom with His light in her eyes
How Beautiful when humble hearts give
The fruit of pure love so that others may live
How beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

How beautiful the feet that bring
The sound of good news and the love of the King
How Beautiful the hands that serve
The wine and the bread and the sons of the Earth
How Beautiful, how beautiful, how beautiful is the body of Christ

This was sung during the candle lighting part of the wedding. Our twin flower girls were "dancing" to the pretty music.

These aren't christian, but they're a few of my favorites.

This is the only version I could find on youtube of this one and the middle narrative is corny, but oh well:

Do you have an audio or lyrics to this Lee Anne? The title itself is very lovable...

:amen:First, let me say your church is correct and right in it's stand on music. Kudos to your pastor and church leaders. Many churches figure the worlds music will get people into church and then the message will save them....well I don't read anyplace in my Bible where the use of Satan every brought anyone to Christ....quite the contrary scripture says (and I am paraphrasing)...."how can two walk together except they be agreed"....Praise God for your church and its musical stand!

I am not sure what you are looking for in terms of "love" songs, but here are some ideas.

There is a very old song entitled "Because" - here are the words:

Because you come to me with naught but love,
and hold my hand and lift mine eyes above,
a wider world of hope and joy I see, because you come to me

Because you speak to me in accents sweet
I find the roses waking 'round my feet
And I am led through tears and joy to the because you speak to me

Because God made you mine, I'll cherish thee
through light and darkness through all time to be,
and pray His love may make our love divine, becuase God made thee mine.

Words by
Edward Teschemacher
Music by
Guy D'Hardelot

This is NOT CCM or in any way "worldly music".

There is also a collection of solos and duets for weddings and special occasions compiled by Mac Lynch at the Wilds. Mac & Beth have some wonderful sound music.....I believe you can check out their website and feel confident any sheet music purchases from there is NOT CCM or worldly.

God Bless....Susan
