Jerry it seems like you may have a bone to pick with somebody' date=' but I don't think anyone here on this board falls into that category. :smile[/quote']

I've seen 1st hand many who do not care for their parents, just go visit the nursing homes, you can witness it 1st hand for your self. Many are in there that could still live at home if they had just a little bit of help.

Seems to me you have something against giving up anything to care for an ederly parent, or is it I, like you, reading something that is not there?

Obviously you haven't read all my posts in this thread. Have you read them? Have you read all the things we have given up for my husband's mom? If not, you may want to go read through before accusing me or anyone else in this thread of being heartless.

Excuse me, it appears, Suzy, your the one who has not read my post, I in no way said what Suzy has or has not done. Reason, I have no idea what Suzy has or has not done, but I know what many have done towards their parents 1st hand. But that is not referring to you nor anyone on this board.

No I can just tell its a touchy subject with you. You've been railing this entire thread like the entire world is mean and heartless. You really do seem bitter about this subject. Now I don't know if you have family problems or something and I'm sorry if you do, but I know that we don't, and most other posters here do not.

Now...go have a Merry Christmas.

When you've got a few more years on yourself, made many more trips to nursing home see how many elderly are treated by their children, perhaps you will understand what I said, but them perhaps not.

You need to stop trying to analyzing people, you not good at it, in fact your very poor at it, your no where close to correct.

All I've been doing these last few post is trying to see where you would go with this, now I know.

You would be a lot more believable if you could resist your propensity to verbal abuse. It does not become you at all. Every single one of your statements there is laced with nasty little cuts, digs and innuendos. They do not speak well of a "man of the cloth".

Jerry,

Who do you think you are defending yourself from accusations of hatred for making simple observations as to how the majority of people this day and age "take care" of their parents? You and your taking the time to clarify the facts of a post!! :verymad: :Bleh (Yes, that was sarcasm.)

:hide Moving right along... I have not read every post here, just droping in my :2cents

I believe it is the responsiblity of the Church to care for its congregation, for those in need, disabled, widowed.

I am now disabled due to birth defects in my legs and back injuries. I had a good run as a Deputy Sheriff and now enjoy the privilage of the call to preach. Cant do it full time, body wont let me. When I retired my medical retirement was not a sure thing. I went over a month with no income. The money came in. Some from Church members (who gave at sacrifice) some I dont know where. Someone paid my power bill for several months. I dont know who.

My point. The Lord will provide. I was prepared to live in a card board box if I needed to. It was the first time in my life I had to REALLY live by faith. The Lord blessed me so with a retirement that takes great care of me. Church members get my firewood for me every year. It is so hard having been a person who was able to do all these things, chase bad guys, get in knock down drag out fights (in the line of duty of course) then not be able to even shovel snow.

God has taken great care of me. I am learning, what ever state I am in, it is well with my soul.

Thanks for listening. :wink

I've noticed, that many times those who are guilty, whatever it is they're guilty of, they hate to have it pointed out. Read the Bible, many reacted to Jesus in the very same way, they considered His words hate, they even unjustly hung Him on the cross because of the hate they had for the words He spoke to them. Not much different in 2008, hate is still the rage.

You know, setting in the church pews, when the pastors speaks about sin and against sin, there is either convictions or hate manifested in the minds of the listener.

I might add, even thought the man and woman who raised me from just before I was 5 years of age was not my birth parents, I took very good care of them, never understand how many people did their very own parents. I know for them to have given me a place in their home and life, they both went without many earthly possession. How could I do any less for them?

Its completely amazing that one calls it hate to take care of loved ones, and trying to point of the importance of doing so to others.

In 2008, for most people, the only thing that is important to the is "I." And if anything gets in the way of "I," its hate time, its a sad state we are in.

Praise God for a caring church. Our church unexpectedly gave us a Christmas gift this year because they knew of all the hard times we've had and the great financial burden this put on us. Praise be to God!

Praise the Lord John. ( I still pray for your family when I remember, forgive me for my forgetfulness.)

I am reminded of God's provision every time we pull into our Church Parking Lot. Our fine city cited us under a new ordanance a few years ago because our lot was compacted gravel, and the new ord said it had to be paved. (we had an agreement with the former city building inspector which seemed to disappear from our file at the City Hall.

Long story short we had 1 year to get $50,000 to pave the lot. We had about $4,000. Money came in from all over. We even had Churches from Texas sending us money. Oh how good the Lord is. Through a hard time the City appraoched us in a threatening way, yet the Lord turned it into heaps of Blessing.

Praise the Lord! :amen:

After reading my posts all you got was I wanted rides to DR> apts? Please read what I wrote --all of it. By the way I drive and have been I was trying to make a point. It seems to me you completely missed it. In a nutshell it's loving our brethren and love (Christ way) is action and produces fruit. :2cents :sad :pray

she wants people help her such as driving her to appts. and i can understand that as I have lived without a car.. People are too busy to do little task like that and her family are not always available.. But I don't think a church is capable to cover medical care. Medical is way too expensive. If we were in a Amish community where they seek medical care little as possible, we could (or do medicine like they do in the old days).

Other than that, we need a bigger organization to cover today modern medical care.. Rather it is an insurance, charity, etc.
