I think it's a combination of all 3, rooted in not having a foundation in scripture.

You see the same thing in many wild secular parties. The crowd gets all worked up, some in the crowd start acting in some manner and before long the rest are acting the same way.

This is also seen at times when a riot breaks out or some event of mass bullying. Typically a few are acting up but once they get going the crowd joins in.

Demonic influence and our own wicked sin natures easily leads many into folly and worse.

Good people can get incited by a mob, doing that which they normally would not, its best to stay away from such things, & not get involved.
