This topic is getting ridiculous.

I find it rather engaging and invigorating. Jump in, try the waters! SWIM (learned that from LuAnne right here in this thread!) :icon_mrgreen:

The erroneous statement was so that no one would think I'm advocating what I wasn't there. I didn't want anyone jumping to an erroneous conclusion which I hadn't stated.

As I said in that post, all those things I mentioned that American Christians today call necessities really are not necessities but I also pointed out that doesn't mean they are all bad either.

Indeed, a discussion of this could be profitible. I've known of churches which have had major prOBlems over everything from the use of AC and fans to the color of carpeting!

Some churches seem to deal with these sorts of issues pretty well while for others the church descends into a brawl over them.

I understand. I'm just curious on where the line is drawn. I believe that each pastor of each church must draw the line, and that means the line will be different for each local church.
Also, I tend to agree with you. I'm all for family being together in church, there is a proper way to have S.S. and other programs, and still have the church family orientated.

I'm not up on all the texting and other abreviations. :icon_mrgreen:

Your church has a pool! Are you Roman or Philistine? :runforhills:Snicker! It's so nice to be able to do laps...

There is a vast difference between teaching a third grade Sunday school class or working at the bakery with hubbys approval and holding political office where whoever holds that office has authority over men. Are you in the right thread? :icon_mrgreen:

You're right, God is not the author of confusion. And He never leads contrary to His Word. But not every church is going to be run the same way! We have a very large church, with a college. Does your church? Please, I am not being smart alecky - I'm serious. If your church does not, then are we in sin because we do? Did God lead us wrongly because He didn't lead your pastor to found a college?

Where in the Bible does it say that families must remain all together at all times while in church? I really would like to know, honestly!

Here we go again, I'm getting misquoted! Our church does have Sunday School for all ages! I believe that falls under the "teaching" aspect of Matthew 28:20, among other places. We don't, however, separate the family, when it comes to preaching services, worship and fellowship times!
No, if a church wants to have a college, they aren't in sin! How absurd of a question was that! Personally, I went to a Bible College, but I've learned a lot more, in life, than I ever did, in getting my BS degree in Pastoral Theology! I've also rejected the methods they taught in the College, as to Evangelization and such! I still knock on doors, pass out tracts and tell others what the LORD has done for me, along with preaching, I'm just not a high-pressure salesman, as they taught! Our church doesn't have a college, but we do have ministries that are unique to us, in this area! The LORD has given us some great open doors as a church and with His help, we're walking through them!

Why was that an absurd question - especially when I stated that I wasn't being a smart aleck, but was serious? From many of your posts, it sounds like you condemn churches that don't practice in the exact same way your church does (please note - I said sounds like...didn't quote you as saying such). I was very serious when I asked it - as a comparison. Simply trying to clarify things.

It's too bad that you had to reject some of what you were taught in college. I'm sure we've all experienced that, though! And I'm glad that your church has ministries that are unique to you, in your area. That's been my point all along...each church is unique in their area and church practice differs - and that doesn't make them unbiblical (such as a church having a youth pastor, assistant pastor or not).

I think it's wonderful that your church is walking through those doors! America needs churches full of people who are surrendered to Him and want to spread the Gospel!

Second of all, if someone truly "listens to God," he'll tell them to keep the family together and not to separate them! He won't lead someone one way and someone else another!
This is the statement that I referenced in my final question to you. Where is this in scripture? I'm sorry that I added "at all times," but the gist of this statement makes it sound like someone is wrong if their family goes to age graded Sunday School...so, I guess I misunderstood your point in the statement.

Why are you always swimming?

I wasn't referring to the women be silent verse but the principle of women and leadership/headship/authority over men. Some proclaim these verses are a part of the overall biblical principle that women are not to be in any leadership positions over men in any aspect of life.

Can a woman "be in leadership" and keep silent?

Yes I am glad you realized that was tongue-in-cheek, sometimes it is hard to convey things like that online.
Large churches I preach has a stage otherwise they would never see the preacher. Smaller churches is sometimes just a pulpit on the floor. If I am preaching in a School, they have a stage. Around this part of the country a stage is not entertainment, but rather a raised floor for a speaker to speak.

Before we go any further I need to know where you draw the line. If what you say is all across the board, then every church would be exactly the same with the same programs, same building structure, same color, etc. Where is the line drawn? It is clearly in Scripture that God has different plans for each people. Pastors today is the same way.

First statement, maybe it's a southern thing, or just quibbling over terms!
Second statement, as I've stated recently, (and you prOBably haven't seen yet,) we have Sunday School, for all ages; we just don't separate the family, when it comes to fellowship times, preaching or worship!

Oops? Looking at that statement a couple of times now, apparently I got it clear as mud! Sorry.
I still maintain and contend, that the right way, is to keep the family together, in worship, preaching and fellowship! Graded Sunday School is fine!

I'm really not trying to be a pain here, but I really would like to see Scripture for this point of view so that I can readjust my thinking if it is contrary to the Word of God.
While so things may be a good idea to do, it does not mean that it is wrong if someone does it another way. It just makes it an opinion, and we all have them. :)

I don't worry about my sarcastic humor (which most know is so ridiculous I couldn't possibly be saying it sincerely) scaring the lost from the Savior. I worry about those who say such things and are very sincere and serious about thinking that everything they do is right and more spiritual than others. The sad thing is, they don't see it in themselves and truly believe their drivel. Sometimes one has to say the outrageous to get through some very thick skulls.

And yes, if someone reading is so thick they don't see it, my post was outrageous sarcasm!

Just checking. :icon_mrgreen:
