Listening in on other people's conversations has no appeal for me. Let me reiterate....
Please read this closely and use discernment and don't tell me it's illegal again, OK? That was made clear the first time.

#1. My original question was about a JAMMING device........to STOP phone transmissions...NOT listen to them.

#2 The JAMMING device I was looking at, is limited to 34'. I live in a rural area and the hearest house to mine is about one THOUSAND and 200 FEET away (1200'). There is NO POSSIBLE way for such a short-range device to affect anyone outside of my yard..

#3. Would it be MORALLY....MORALLY wrong for me to WANT to jam the cottonpicking phone...in my house...if there is NO WAY for it to affect anyone else other than my son and the one who is calling him????? MORALLY, mind you. I will answer it for you....NO!!!

#4. EVERYONE HAS MADE IT CLEAR that is is ILLEGAL...OK?

#5. Now read this one before you answer. Since this is illegal, and could be a stumblingblock, I WON'T DO IT.

#6 Someone else brought up the scanner/eaves dropping idea, which I have absolutely NO DESIRE to do. If it WAS legal and even if I DID happen to go with a scanner, it would ONLY be to catch him/her in the act. But the bottom line is......I just want this junk STOPPED.
On second thought, if having a scanner might tempt me to eaves drop at other times, I'd rather not have one. Thanks.

Hey, I knew you were close to "going over the top" but I didn't realize my bit of funnin' with you would have that dramatic of an effect.

Calm down, it was tongue in cheek, I knew you were going to do the right thing.............. :yeah:

Don't spend your money. Unless you want a scanner just for the fun of listening.

Not an insinuation that anyone would eavesdrop on further private conversations. There is a whole hOBby build around scanners. Public safety, aircraft, trains, amateur radio, etc. Which is entirely legal. That was where this comment was leading. Sorry if it was misconstrued.

An FM wireless mic may be a viable option. Small, discrete, easy to conceal. You can get them at Radio Shack, or at least you used to. Turn on before bed time and tune in your FM radio. Or the cell phone detector may work well.

I know this sound simplistic, but the reliable baby monitor may work as well. Not too easy to hide, but perhaps doable.

I want to make sure my stance here is that I have no issue with you wanting to find out what your child is doing, especially when it run contrary to your wishes as a parent. I feel any option is fine. But, as a Christian and a licensed radio operator, I wanted you to know the laws. Some may consider the mic options skirting the envelope a bit, I am not familiar with those laws. Again as always, your discretion. But, if in any case, you can detect a conversation from outside the room, it is fair game.

I use one with my CNC router for unattended operation. For visual, I aim a cheap webcam at the thing and watch it on Skype, while using the baby monitor to alert me to sound fluctuations....like something tearing up :) Primitive but it works. Anyway...why didn't I think of that? But where would I hide the thing?

Thanks

The child living in there parents home is not living under a democracy. More especially the underage child, although our government wants to interfere with the parents raising their children and prosecute parents for discipling their children and or listening in on their phone calls, and or searching their stuff for that which they should not have..
