Thinking I had covered everything for one wedding (appropriate dress, music, etc , including the drink at the reception) I was shocked when "non-alcoholic" Champaign was served. "What's wrong" they said "it's non-alcoholic". Perhaps... but what the world saw was the party drinking Champaign. People don't understand that your "witness" is important too! I was considered crazy when I refused the look-alike drink and left the room.

A man was telling someone else about his daughters marriage, he was cussing the church she was suppose to have got married in, its pastor, right before the wedding took place found out they were having 2 very worldly songs. He politely told then to pick out 2 more songs, that they did not want those songs sang in their church, Assembly of God.

They declared, we are having our wedding right here, and we are using these songs. Pastor them told them, you will not if you sing these songs, and they didn't. But wow, at the many bad things they said about that church and its pastor.

The pastor and or the church made only one mistake, not asking before hand. I'll defend them a bit, that was several years back in a time when you did not expect such things to come up in church. Nowadays when someone is using a church for what ever purpose, they need to be sure before hand they will not do anything at all that you would not want them to.

Personally, all we ever had in our old IFB church was the organ. These newer IFB churches are going straight down the Devil's path with having pianos and trumpets. I could see the use of the harpsichord or trombone, but piano and trumpet....they are clearly used for Jazz and new age music, which we all know are of the Devil.

I have a few words for you. Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts... HOLINESS TO THE LORD... Purity.. Learn not the way of the heathen... strange fire... The breastplate of righteousness... Let us lay aside every weight... Sanctified... Vessel unto honor... Stumbling block...

Perhaps you don't agree with those who have been led of the Lord to reject much of CCM as unholy and unclean, perhaps you can't see why it is an issue, but is it wise to mock?

Sometimes a fruit punch bowl give off the same image. Fruit punch is usually serve with alcohol (and sometimes it give people too much opportunity to pour alcohol in it)

If that person was being serious, they are wrong about trumpets:

Psalms 150:3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Your right, I never see fruit punch without thinking, did some one spike it? I know there be some who will spile fruit punch even in the fellowship halls of a church.

What I like best is a piano, I've been a member of a church that had an organ, but I really don't care for it.

Singing back up by just a piano sounds great to me.

The ONLY hangover I ever had was at a wedding where there was NO alcohol. Non-alcoholic wine & fruit juice were served, & water was not provided. I had 5 glasses of the n-a wine.

What I did not then know was that n-a wine is made from fermented wine, & only the ethanol is removed. Other alcoholic compounds (higher homologues) are still present, & these are what caused the hangover.

We have Hammond organ & piano, the organ preferred by me, & the piano by another.

I balance the organ to emphasize the melody, & people say it is easier to sing to.

Also I like to lead worship using my Indian harmonium, as I can play & sing facing the congregation. A guitar has the same advantage.

I think that's why some churches here will not do receptions at all. Just weddings.

One of my cousin had a wedding at a baptist church. This church allowed them to have a reception in their building but they couldn't serve alcohol, so my dad and some of my other relatives - who were not baptists- decided to go in the parking lot and drink alcohol to have fun. Yeah, they got drunk. I know they were drinking because I used to follow my dad alot.

Yes, many times when there is an event being held that does not allow drinking, there will be those who will hang out in the parking lot around their cars, that is if they can't or fear to slip it inside.

My wife's mother nor father either one drank, but my wife's mother had some brothers and a brother in law who did. I recall when we would have a get together at Linda's parents house I would see certain ones hanging around a pick-up truck or the trunk of a car, I soon found out why, they were getting boozed up. Those who booze it up, they seem to booze it up no matter where they go.

At the big coc in town, the coc's will have their weddings at their church house, but will not have a receptions there. The reason being is most of them want country western type music along with instruments at their receptions, and of course they believe music instruments is wrong at church, yet they are OK everywhere else and so is any type of music.
