No, its not what we're talking about, its quite clear that LuAnne made the statement this statement and you have high-jacked this topic.

"Hope everyone in your are gets around ok, Jerry8. I know most drivers in the south aren't used to snow and ice and it can get tricky.

When I was a senior in high school, we lived in Norman, OK. That year (1978) there was a snowstorm and lots of ice there - very unusual. People were staying off the road because the area just wasn't prepared for that kind of weather. It didn't bother us, because we'd lived in areas where there was lots of snow and ice, but for those who lived there all their lives it was something else."

And since it was made, you have tried every argument you can to place Arkansas in the north and carry this topic to a places I did not intend for it to go. Arkansas is in the south, always has been in the south, always will be in the south.

Now, I feel sure, that LuAnne will agree, that Arkansas is north of you, but that its still in the Southern United States. And neither one of us will ever agree with the warped argument that your putting forth. But, if you want to believe what you believe, that's OK, but please, stop trying to force your belief on us. We don't need it, nor do we want it.

Enough said.

And some people think Virginia is not a southern state, and I think it is.

We have Stonewall Jackson memorials and civil War museum and everything like that.

Hence the difference between being "southern" geographically and being Southern culturally. Miami, FL is about as far "south" as one can get geographically but there isn't the slightest shred of Southern culture there.

Jerry is incapable of understanding the difference.

That crazy AR weather!! We got some more snow here in NE too. The wind was blowing like crazy; it does not make for good driving.

I find this kind of funny. I typed in google, does arkansas have southern culture, and the fifth entry down was this thread!! Needless to say, after living in Wyoming and Nebraska all my life, going to AR and LA was a culture shock! I don't care for the black eyed peas!!

Mercy sake, you don't care for black-eye peas? Take some corn bread, crumble it up in a bowl, them pour black-eyed peas on top, them crumble crispy bacon to top of that, YUMMY!

That's almost as good as a plate lunch & a RoC Cola.

Hey, if it wasn't considered a Southeastern Conference School before the 1990's, how can it be Southern? Seriously though, I always thought of Arkansas as being along the same lines as Texas, Oklahoma and Missouri culturally. I have done business in Little Rock before and I would have described the people as western. They though my accent was unique and If my accent is even noticeable to you, then you are definitely not Southern.

Do any of you write with a southern accent? Just wondering! (I am 100% yankee, so I have to ask what is an "Arkansas"??) Anyway, it all reads the same to me!
