Thank you all for your input. I am new to this and this is my first time posting anything much less starting a thread. I have been married for many years and my husband has backslidden and is very far from the Lord. We have been separated for over 2 years and many well meaning Christians, in so many words, have encouraged me to give up. It does get VERY discouraging but I believe God is still working on his heart even though I only see occasional glimpses. Things look very bad from the worldly outlook but God is BIGGER than all circumstances and I'm trying to give it all to Him. I must admit, it is hard! Loneliness is the hardest part.

Don't give up on him. A lot of people on the outside will advise you to do so but just ignore them cause they're doing it in ignorance. God can bring him back and make him a better husband than he ever was before. And I speak from having witnessed this first-hand.

So sorry that has taken place, some people back slid quite a ways and breaks the hearts of the ones they love the most.

I suppose there comes a time in such situations to give up, but I would never be the one to tell a person in your situation its time to give up. I know some well meaning people would.

My wife's twin's husband left her for another woman, married her, it left many heart aches in my wife's twin.

Prayers for God's grace to comfort you and that your husband will see the wrong he has done and repent and turn back to God.

May the Lord Bless,
Jerry

Thank you, thank you , thank you!!! - for the encouragements and the prayers. That is what I need to hear. I look forward to the day when I wil shout the victory and my husband will come back to the Lord and to me! I will not give up or stop praying. Among other things, I pray that he will be miserable in his sin, that he will miss fellowship with the Lord, and that the Holy Spirit will burn so bright and hot within his heart that he can't ignore it. Thank you again! I'm glad I found you.

All I can say, I know that when my wife's twin had cancer, accordingly on one of the last visits before she died, he stated to one of our family members, I sure messed up, but it can't be undone. While standing behind the pulpit doing my part at the funeral service, his face had a very miserable look on it, perhaps the most miserable looking face in the church which was packed and overflowing.

I would like to know what the Bible says about free will. I know we all have a free will and God will not force us to do anything. BUT - my confusion is this: what about praying for God to soften someone's heart and change his will, such as in the case of praying for a backslider to repent and come back to the Lord. Can't we pray that the Lord will change his will? Is anything too hard for God? Why pray about this matter if God will not do it? I really need help on this and would appreciate Scripture and hearing from men and women.

A friend of mine pray for her husband's salvation everyday .. So many times, we seen God tried to work on him. Like one time, He ended up with a neighbor who almost convinced him about salvation... God's work was OBviously there (otherwise, he would have ended up with a partygoer who doesn't care for the things of Christ)... but the prOBlem was, it is still his choice to make.
