I would like to know what the Bible says about free will. I know we all have a free will and God will not force us to do anything. BUT - my confusion is this: what about praying for God to soften someone's heart and change his will, such as in the case of praying for a backslider to repent and come back to the Lord. Can't we pray that the Lord will change his will? Is anything too hard for God? Why pray about this matter if God will not do it? I really need help on this and would appreciate Scripture and hearing from men and women.

This week I bring up John R. Rice for your comments on his ministry and thoughts concerning his teachings and writings. Most of you know prOBably more about him than I do, so I will simply mention his founding of The Sword of the Lord and he wrote numerous books and booklets throughout his life. He is hailed by many fundamentalists as "one of the greats", yet many have ridiculed him as closed minded and judgemental towards other christians. His staff once reported that during his ministry they received 22,923 letters from individuals who had accepted Christ as a result of reading John R. Rice's books, booklets, or Sermons published in the Sword of the Lord. He went ho…

Dr. James Dobson 1 2 3 4

Thanks to all for your thoughts on the late Adrian Rogers. This week, I bring up Dr. James DOBson (known by his friends as "Jim"). He has been hailed as a great christian and psychologist both seperately and coupled in service to Christ. He is one of the most publicly (among both christians and non-christians) known christian speakers and writers and has been praised for his knowledge, wisdom, and insight with family matters. Dr. DOBson has also been ridiculed for being liberally passive on many topics to include his view of the christian home and salvation. Many "fundamentalists" have labeled him as a worker of iniquity and a liberalist. Most recently, Dr. DOBson a…

my old birch tree Birds used to make their home on it. It used to be Bluejays, cardinals, chickadee, and even woodpeckers who made their daily trip on it and it was so nice to watch them from the windows. But we had to cut it down because it was dying. I am think about replanting that tree but don't know how to without killing the tree. I don't know what killed our first tree other than it was diseased. anyway, give us prayers that we can do this. Thanks

Hey, ladies, we just started week 9 in the GGIYB Challenge. This week we are going to explore how we can glorify God with our backs. (We plan to look at the cold shoulder and turning your back on folks among other things) Hope you can drop by, take a peek and perhaps even participate. Truly it has been eyeopening and convicting. Stop by OBL if you get a chance. (It's easy to join, and it is free!!!!)

I've always heard different groups say both good and bad about Billy Graham. What I have noticed here on OB is that many are very quick to either uphold him entirely or throw him quickly to the chopping block. So.......I'm am curious who will share appropriately and tastefully their personal thoughts and beliefs about Billy Graham and be willing to share both the things they like and dislike about him. I hope to bring up several different people in threads to come, but will start with him.

I find it interesting that many times on this site, if a church or someone else has taken a conservative stand on something, there are people who will lash out at them. And it doesn't seem to matter if they are pushing their belief, God's word, or just simply making a statement as to how they feel personally about something. Now I completely agree that if someone chooses to be conservative beyond what God commands, they have that right and God Bless them for it. They just shouldn't "push" that on others and call it God's if it is their own. And should be corrected if they do. On the flip side of the argument, we have people who will try to justify liberalism outsid…
