“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” The key word in this verse is “which”. I see this as the second most mis-quoted verse in the Bible. How many times have you heard someone quote this verse and say, “Christ who strengtheneth me”? This one word makes a world of difference in this verse. The word “who” refers to a person, Christ. This is saying, in effect, that I can do anything through Christ, but too often I discover that I cannot do absolutely anything. Mis-quoting this verse in this way, hurts one’s faith, especially a new Christian, when he finds that he cannot do everything he attempts to do, or any great feat for that matter. On th…

My mom sent me this picture of my little nephew that was born today. He is so adorable. I can not wait to hold him. The picture didn't work cause I have used all the space I can almost, so I put a link there. He is now my avatar so you can see him there!

I posted a thread here about spiritual gifts, and was amazed at the number of "teachers" we have. I wonder why there is not more teaching then? I am also a "teacher" but I like to learn too, especially something new (New to me, that is). Seems like a teacher never quits learning! Let's share some scripture, and be a blessing to one another, and not be so proud that we cannot be taught by another.

1 Thessalonians 1 “Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father;” (v.3) The Work of Faith: “Always abounding in the work of the Lord” (1 Cor. 15:58) A necessary work; A continual work; A beneficial work. A Labor of Love: Our labor is vain without love; Business has no heart; it is “all business”; Never leave the love out of business! The Patience of Hope: Love has hope; Labor has hope; Hope is patient; patience looks to loves end, and works’ end. Giving is a “work of faith”. It takes more faith to give sacrificially than nearly an…

Canaan's curse 1 2

Gen.9:19-25 Canaan's curse was not resultant from an act of homosexuality, as some imply! The Bible does not even hint at such a foolish thought. The “sin” was a blatant disrespect for parental authority, by making light of his dads shame. This is so foreign to us today that we must come up with some silly, off-the-wall explanation for a passage we don’t understand. Was not a child stoned to death for dishonoring his parents? The law demanded it, and it is one of the “ten commandments”, in fact, the first of the six commandment concerning mans dealings with man! (Ex.20:12 and Ex 21:17 with Mt. 15:4). Nakedness was always a sign of shame, and a son was to respectf…

My grandaughter was saved last evening at VBS...hallelujah! Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. Happy knows how much joy this brings. Mywife (attends with me), my son (his own IFB church in Texas), my grandaughter (saved last night)! I have so much to be thankful for. My wife was attending the Roman Church and my grandaughter was baptized into the Roman Church but, now they are with me at Decatur Chapel (IFB)! Would you please take a moment and give God the praise?

What brought this up was I reading Schaff last night, and he said that tradition has it that both Peter and Paul were tried together, and then executed separately. Pretty amazing story, if it's true. Here's an article on the subject. It's certainly not pro-Catholic, and it says that the first pope was actually Simon the Sorcerer from Acts 8. I'd like your guy's thoughts on it. http://www.hope-of-israel.org/petrome.htm

“Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Eph. 5: 16) We usually don’t see time as anything all that important, but let’s consider what time really is: The business man will say that “Time is money”, but friends, it is much more than that! Time is life! As we give our life to a person or a work, we are, in a sense, burning up our time for them. Think of a flashlight, as it gives off light, the batteries are dying; they give their life so that we can have light. In a way, we are like that; as we give ourselves to a work we give time, and time is a little bit of our life. There is no way we can retrieve that which we have given of our time, but we can mak…

I spoke to a woman for several hours this past weekend about Jesus Christ. 1. She told me Christ was not God, he was God's son, a man. 2. She said His mother was a sinner having a child out of marriage. 3. She said Christ was a sinner because He was tempted. 4. She said the Bible was just a book written by men who could have made mistakes. We read... John 10:30 I and my Father are one. John 10:31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. She said it means God is one God. I explained why the Jews wanted to stone Him. also,... John 1:1-12 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was i…

Introducing “The Restoration Of The Gospel Of Christ” Dear fellow KJV/Baptist believers in Christ, I have solved the synoptic prOBlem by using KJV scripture to reconstruct the 'declaration' referenced to in Luke 1:1; entitled The Declaration Of The Apostles acccording to william; a perfect four column harmony of the individual gospel accounts of M-M-L-J… …and then conflated the four columns of text of M-M-L-J as ordered in The Declaration Of The Apostles acccording to william into one column of text; and with every word used in order, thereby restored the "former treatise" referenced in Acts 1:1; being The Gospel Of Christ according to william. Luke 1:1-4 makes ref…

I just read in the paper of a classmate who dies on the 28th July. Back in our school days we were rather good friends and played together quite a bit. Since graduation in 65 we have hardly seen one another, perhaps 8 to 10 times thru the years. We really never run in the same circles after graduation. He love the bottle and it caused him much grief. He marriage was to a friend of mine, that marriage was pure hell for her, there is not another word than can describe what he put her through. I forget the number of times he has been married but all of his wife's left him because of his being mean, and the mean came on him when he nursed the bottle. I've got to tell this. …

If everyone has a spiritual gift, which one(s) do you have? There may be more than one gift, but usually, it seems, that there is a dominant one. And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. (1 Cor. 12:6,7)

I've started this topic because it was briefly mentioned in the book reviews, but I want to know your opinion on this type of entertainment. This is not much different from the Disney movies, only that it comes from Japan; however, the themes are more or less the same: magical girls, spells, romance, fantasy, slice of life etc. Many Christians indulge in fiction, so I was wondering if you enjoy it or do you think it might be something to be kept out the way. Somehow, I find it 'safe' to watch because it's just a cartoon without involving real people, but there are some anime series that must be avoided at all costs.

Last month numerous customers or our rural water company received unusually high water bills that were more than double the normal water bill. They had Linda and I down as having used 25,000 gallons, and they claim that 25,000 gallons of water when through our meter. They make the claim that every customer than had this high water bill used the amount of water they were charged for. Yet at the same the they claim that their remote reader unit messed up. Strange thing, the person before and after us, their water meter reading and use was normal. We have had rural water for about 5 to 8 years, the most we have ever used in 6,000 gallons in one month and that time we had…

http://newsroom.blogs.cnn.com/2010/07/28/asu-student-may-not-graduate-due-to-personal-beliefs/#comments Here is a young lady standing up for her beliefs. This is indicative of today's culture in America. The progressives expect everyone to tolerate everything, but the progressives can't tolerate Christian who disagrees with them. This is wrong on so many different levels.

I saw this on facebook today, and I decided I would share it here. I don't know if the story is true or not, but the message is still there. MARRIAGE When I got home that night as my wife served dinner, I held her hand and said, I've got something to tell you. She sat down and ate quietly. Again I OBserved the hurt in her eyes. Suddenly I didn't know how to open my mouth. But I had to let her know what I was thinking. I want a divorce. I raised the topic calmly. She didn't seem to be annoyed by my words, instead she asked me softly, why? I avoided her question. This made her angry. She threw away the chopsticks and shouted at me, you are not a man! That n…

Every Living Citizen of the U.S.

Every living citizen of the U.S. includes our children. To quote a preacher (but out of context), "you either is or you ain't." July 13 data: Currently, the U.S. Debt is estimated at: $13,174,281,889,041 Your share of today's public debt is: $42,350 Does this make the citizen a servant of the government? Does this make the citizen a shareholder in government policy?
