A Heart Monitor Did you ever have to wear a portable heart monitor? I did, and the Lord used it to teach me a very important truth that changed my life forever. It began one day at work while I was working in the paint booth at General Motors. I went to the doctor later for chest pains, and was tested, and failed the treadmill test. I don’t remember the order of events, but while looking for the reason for the chest pains, they stuck a monitor on me. I had to wear it all day and record nearly every movement I made throughout the day. When I went down or up the stairs, I had to record the time and describe the activity in a notebook, so that the doctor could r…

Heaven - A different perspective

There may very well be a God shaped place in man which no OBject or pleasure can fill, save Christ. There may also be a man shaped place in heaven, which no other soul save mine was made to fill. A heaven place where the difference in me from you lends to the symphony of praise and worship we will all take part in as Christians. Would that symphony be incomplete without me? I know Christ went to prepare a place just for me because He knew I would receive Him. Through God's gracious gift to me, my note will not be missing from that praise and worship symphony. I had never looked at heaven from this perspective before. Help me determine if this thought, outlook, whatever …

I find a lot of encouragement on this board and in seeing that I would like to express a few anxieties I have about Thanksgiving. OBviously recently my husband and I joined the IFB church. Our lives have changed dramatically in what we do, how we act, how I dress and such. We still know how to enjoy ourselves and aren't crazy uptight by any means. We just have a better understanding of how we should live and where we stand morally. In that, next week we will be going to my aunt's house in Nashville for Thanksgiving. I will be picking my brother up and taking him along. My dad will be there, my grandfather, and a few other family member's on my Uncle's side. Most of them a…

”“Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours." (Gen. 37:3) This “coat of many colors” was OBviously an honorable garment; it was a coat of distinction. Joseph was loved more than the others, and that was prOBably because he wanted to do right, as well as being the son of Rachel. Israel particularly loved Joseph, and gave him this coat of honor; this put Joseph above the others, and they sought to destroy him for envy and jealousy. Today, Christians wear a “coat of many colors” in the sense that, as the old saying goes, we wear many hats. Christians function in many different an…

Thanksgiving (An acrostic) There is so much to be thankful for today. Yes, we have lost a lot of freedoms; we have been subject to ridicule and persecuted for our beliefs, but there is still much to be thankful for. If we will meditate on the Lord and His blessings, we will see that there is much we take for granted. Let us give thanks unto the Lord, for His mercies are new every morning. Thank you Lord for thy many blessings; How can we thank thee enough? All the love that thou can bestow, Necessitates our esteem; Know, dear Lord, our hearts desires; See our tears of joy; Grant us Lord thy perfect peace. In all my ways I’ll acknowledge thee, Visit m…

I am very excited about the season of Advent that begins on Sunday. This time of reflection and Scripture reading specifically set aside to prepare our hearts for the celebration of the birth of Jesus is so special to me. It makes me imagine what it must have been like to live before the time of Christ, waiting expectently for the birth of the Messiah. May the hearts of every man, woman and child be turned towards Christ, and their ears be inclined to hear the wonderful message of love, and grace and hope that he has to offer to this world and that can be found in his death, burial and ressurection.

Ladies, soon I will be updating the version of the software that you are using. Now is the time to let me know of any features that you would like added or removed. I will be updating it to the newest version of MyBB. If a lady mod could let the ladies over there know I would appreciate it. Please post the response here or I will never see it. In the future I want to switch the ladies over to the same software that we are using here (IPB) and merge the members. They will still be two boards, but the registration with the ladies will also work here. Right now I can't afford the software for both, so that is down the road. Ok, let's hear the suggestions. FYI: For me to…

Is the Anglican Church male-dominated? It's trying not to be. The Diocese of Dunedin was the first in the world to appoint a female Bishop, and there are now many female priests in the Anglican Church in New Zealand. Most services and modern hymns use inclusive language. Some traditional hymns and forms of service do unfortunately contain male-specific language which can't be removed without damage to their poetic quality. We still often (but not always) refer to God as ‘He’ and ‘Father’, because sadly the English language has no suitable neutral terms other than the horribly impersonal ‘it’. We are working on improvements in this area. Totally unbiblical. T…

Recently an elderly church member that has no family living locally fell in her yard tripping over a root under a large oak tree, when she fell she fell face 1st on another root. Broke her nose, got cuts in her lower lip an chin that tool a few stitches, broke her thumb. I got a call when this happened and went to her house along with a niece. Of course we took her to the local hospital to have her checked out and she stayed a few days and her children came in. Sunday night I had a conversation with her youngest daughter who describe a woman that I do not know, one that cannot see, cannot drive, cannot make rational decisions, cannot get around, cannot take care of her …

Multiply by 3 again. Now add the two digits together to find your predicted favorite movie in the list of 18 movies below. Movie List: 1. Gone With The Wind 2. E.T. 3. Beverly Hills Cop 4. CHURCH HOSTS GLOBAL FAITH FORUM FOR WORLD'S RELIGIONS By Paul Proctor November 17, 2010 NewsWithViews.com The Christian Post reported recently that NorthWood Church in Keller, Texas, scheduled a GlOBal Faith Forum for Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and atheists in hopes they would “listen to one another and even build friendships.” The report stated, “the forum isn't a gathering of theologians to debate religions,” but instead, an “opportunity for people of multiple faiths to get to know one another, start conversations, and learn from each other.” Yeah, try and find that in your Bible. I guess the Apostle Paul blew it. Just think what he could have …

A SILENT WITNESS By Coach Dave Daubenmire November 18, 2010 NewsWithViews.com “Silence isn’t golden, it’s yellow.” Zell Miller “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. “So, what does a witness do?” I asked the pudgy man standing before me. I could tell he was uncomfortable by the way he shuffled his feet and dropped his eyes. But the old coach in me can smell cowardice. Over the years I have witnessed many young men wilt in the face of adversity on the football field. It is impossible to disguise; t…

Last night, Nov 16, 2010, I heard U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert speak in behalf of a resolution he introduced this year (and several years in the past). He would like to see the resolution become a bill and signed as law. Here it is: 1. H.RES.1510 : Providing for consideration of the bill (H.R. 4636) to prohibit United States assistance to foreign countries that oppose the position of the United States in the United Nations. Sponsor: Rep Gohmert, Louie [TX-1] (introduced 7/13/2010) Makes sense to me that we stop foriegn aid to countries like Yemen etc. All that said...he read from a book which contained many of our nation's leaders substantiating that we are a Christi…

Illustration for the unity of believers; the church: Bring several pop-sickle sticks to class (matchsticks, or even toothpicks). pass one around to s few kids, and ask them to break the stick; increase the number of sticks and allow them to try and break them all together. Eventually, they will not be able to do so. Explain that as the church grows, it too becomes stronger, and resists the trials that come against it. they, in fact, show whee the weaknesses are, and thereby strengthen the church.
